I remember when the hotel first was constructed it was the talk of the town. Being a Montrealer I just had to stay over night and sample the hotel for myself. All offices in the area went to their superb brunch at the top of hotel featuring a panoramic view of the city when the hotel opened and our office was no exception.
The Marriott Chateau Champlain is in the heart of downtown Montreal. It is a short walk to the famous Ste Catherine Street which offers restaurants, shopping boutiques, movie theaters, pool halls and it is just a 15 minute walk to the old Montreal forum which has now been converted into AMC Forum or the Molson Center, Place Des Arts, the Montreal Convention center, night clubs, old Montreal and harbor and more.
From its location at 1 Place Du Canada you can get to anywhere in Montreal, without or without your own car. In fact our Metro (subway station) is underneath the Hotel. When you explore the metro stations you can also explore Montreal’s Underground Shopping Malls, filled with stores and restaurants to fit every budget.
I would have to say that I love this 36 story high hotel especially for the beautiful windows displaying the panoramic view of the city and harbour. The half-moon shaped window view gives the room a certain romantic charm not found elsewhere. The hotel makes an idea getaway for lovers. Even though it is in the heart of the city it is set off in a very quiet sector. So peace and quiet is enjoyed.
On the other hand the hotel is amenable to families as well. Kids enjoy the temperate setting of the pool. Or how about royalty, celebrities, starts, athletes, everyone finds something special at the Chateau Champlain.
The hotel has an excellent fitness room with bodybuilding and cardio workouts. Steam rooms and hot tubs.
The restaurants are magnificent; right in the lobby you will find a Mediterranean restaurant, well actually Samuel du Champlain restaurant named after the Quebec Explorer of the region. If you enjoy a drink there is the Bar le Seneteur right in the lobby as well. I can’t stress how much it is a great getaway for a couple.
Of course business people will have the conference rooms and there is a huge ballroom. Even without staying in the restaurant I have gone to a few productions at the hotel’s Caf Conc theater.
Besides the usual amenities such as cable tv, voice mail, coffee maker, iron, and hair dryer in the rooms, pay per view movies, this hotel has free high speed internet service so you don’t have to miss out on what is happening back home or on the job while you are away.
The service is wonderful as well. I truly love this hotel and I recommend it to anyone.
