Fort Bend County, Texas is home to some of the best Mexican restaurants in Texas. Here are three Mexican restaurants that I consider among the best.
1. Café Adobe in Sugar Land.
Café Adobe at 2329 South Highway 6 in Sugar Land is my absolute favorite of all Mexican restaurants. Café Adobe is a great place for a casual date, a large happy hour group or a family dinner.
Café Adobe has hands down the best margarita around, but I must warn you that their fabulous specialty margarita is so potent that when you drink the second one your companion’s eyes will cross. Now that’s a good margarita!
Café Adobe has a full range of Tex-Mex dishes. My favorite dish is their cheese enchiladas. They also have excellent tamales.
Dining is available inside or on the patio outside where there is a nice view of the lake, and you can feed ducks.
Café Adobe’s hours are Sunday-Thursday 11:00a.m.-10:00 p.m., Friday & Saturday 11:00a.m.-11:00p.m. Lunch is served Monday-Friday 11:00a.m.-4:00p.m. with a Saturday and Sunday brunch served 11:00a.m.-2:00p.m. Happy Hour is Monday-Friday 2:00p.m.-6:30p.m.
This is one of Fort Bend County’s Mexican restaurants that is sure to please the entire family.
2. La Escondida Mexican Grill in Missouri City.
La Escondida is located at 7270 Highway 6 South in the Rocky Creek shopping center directly across the street from Lake Olympia.
La Escondida features a menu with authentic Mexican platters as well as Tex-Mex platters. Dinner prices start at $9.99, and lunches run from $5.99 to $9.99.
On Saturday and Sunday, La Escondida has a breakfast buffet for $9.99 which includes a quesadilla station and made-to-order omelets as well as pancakes and waffles, sopes, fresh fruits, handmade tortillas and desserts just to name a few of the items. You can purchase Mimosas for $1.50 to go with the breakfast buffet.
La Escondida is one of the most kid friendly Mexican restaurants in the area with a $4.29 kids menu and kids breakfast buffet $5.99.
La Escondida also has a bar, and their house margarita is excellent.
My personal favorite at La Escondida is the black bean dip that they serve with the tortilla chips, but they also have excellent tacos, tamales and enchiladas.
If you need catering, call 281-403-3306.
La Escondida is open Sunday-Thursday 11:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11:00a.m.-11:00 p.m., with Saturday and Sunday brunch 8:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m.
3. Escalante’s Fine Tex-Mex in Sugar Land.
If you are looking for something a little more upscale in Mexican restaurants you would love Escalante’s at 15933 City Walk in the beautiful Sugar Land Town Square. Escalante’s has a bit of a 1960’s chic feel atmosphere-wise. The food at Escalante’s is excellent and their menu extensive. The prices are a good deal higher than most of the other Mexican restaurants in the area with prices starting at $11.00 and going up to about $24.00 for an entrée. Escalante’s is a great place for a little more formal dining, but you will feel just as comfortable there in your jeans after a nice day of shopping in the Sugar Land Town Square.
Although the choices of Mexican restaurants in Fort Bend County, Texas seems endless, these are three of the best Mexican restaurants in the area. I recommend you try all three. You won’t be disappointed.
