Mildenhall Stadium was first opened in 1973 by a local farmer named Terry Waters. Mr Waters’ son James Waters took over the running of Mildenhall Stadium when his father was no longer able to run the stadium. Then in 2005, ownership changed hands once again. It is currently run by Carl Harris. Mildenhall Stadium offers a variety of sporting events such as banger racing, greyhound racing and it also puts on live bands, hosts car boot sales and much more!
When driving to Mildenhall Stadium, it is important to bear in mind that the stadium is not actually in Mildenhall. It is located at Hayland Drove, West Row Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, IP28 8QU, which is just a few miles outside Mildenhall, past RAF Mildenhall.
Parking at Mildenhall Stadium is free, but there is a small entry fee. The price will depend on the event you plan on attending.
Banger racing is also very popular. A banger is not only a term for a British sausage; it is also a term that refers to old cars.
Mildenhall Stadium attracts families as well as racing enthusiasts who come along with friends and family members. A trip to the banger races is a casual affair where patrons are allowed to bring in their own cooler of alcohol to the stadium grounds, as there is no ban on drinking in public in the UK. Or if they would prefer, there is an open bar where they can purchase soft drinks and alcohol. Patrons can also enjoy a fish and chip supper or other refreshments either before, during or after the afternoon or evening events.
