Fruitabu is a great new product that is an alternative to the traditional fruit rollup that is mostly artificially flavored and not real fruit at all. Fruitabu is known as organic smooshed fruit, meaning that you get real fruit from concentrate made into each of the three product options of Fruitabu.
The name Fruitabu sounds kind of weird, and the first time I saw it I was taken by surprise. However, I was attracted to the fact that this product is organic, and it’s made with real fruit. Some of the other fruit snack products don’t contain any real fruit at all, and you might as well be eating candy.
Price and Value
The price of a box of Fruitabu organic smooshed fruit is about $3.25. For the Fruitabu flats, you get 3.2 total ounces in a box of 8 fruit flats. With the fruit splooshers by Fruitabu, you get five packets for a total of 7.5 ounces. The fruit twirls give you 6 twirls at a total of 4.4. ounces in one box. The product is a bit more expensive than a fruit rollup, but you are paying for the organic product and the real fruit from concentrate. For instance, compare the price of a regular banana to an organic one at the grocery store.
You can either choose the original Flats fruitabu, which is flattened fruit that looks like a thin candy bar. This is my favorite. The fruit is in a solid form and is somewhat chewy. The second choice is the fruit splooshers, which are like applesauce in a package that you squeeze to the top to eat. The third option is the fruit twirls, which are most like traditional fruit rollups. The only problem with the fruit twirls is that they are very sticky, and you’ll have to wash your hands after eating one, no matter how careful you are.
Taste and Flavor
The Fruitabu have a great flavor. You can choose from three flavor options, apple, grape or strawberry for each type. The strawberry is the best in my opinion, but all three flavors are tasty. I like the texture of the Fruitabu flats, as the flats are chewy and taste the most like real fruit.
As stated above, this is an organic fruit product. The ingredients are mainly organic concentrated fruit puree that make up the fruit portion of the product. You will find 10% of Vitaimin C, but not too many other vitamins or minerals. Each individual fruit flat, sploosher or twirl has about 13 grams of sugar, but eighty calories! The good news is that you get about 85 mg of potassium, or about 2% of the daily recommended allowance. Fruits and vegetables are used for the coloring of the snacks, adding to the all natural appeal!
I highly recommend the fruitabu because it is natural and organic. The flavor is great. And, it’s something unique and different. The somewhat higher price (compare to $2.50 for a box of regular fruit roll ups) is worth the added flavor and natural product. Fruitabu is a great product for putting in kid’s lunches, or just for an adult snack anytime when you can’t access fresh fruit and don’t want to eat a candy bar or chips!
Maybe you can put a box of Fruitabu in your child’s stocking as a stocking stuffer. You can consider this a gift because of the higher price, making the Fruitabu a luxury item. Or, at least that’s a great argument for your kids. If I was still a kid, I don’t think I’d have any problem with this, because the Fruitabu taste better than candy! And, the different versions like the fruit splooshers make eating the fruit product interesting!
