Typically, many people make New Year Resolutions that only last for maybe a month or two. For 2008’s resolution, I have decided to hold myself more accountable to my resolution by announcing that I will post my goals and update them weekly. That’s right, no more hiding or quitting; whether I fail or succeed each week, I will provide a weekly updated post to let myself and interested parties know exactly how I am doing.
First, a little background information: last year I began one of the biggest undertakings of my life: weight loss. A common goal for most, however, the amount of weight that I want to lose collectively is huge. For 2007, I started this goal with, what I would consider successful results for the year (http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/471908/how_i_lost_over_50_pounds_in_less_than.html).
Now, to expand on that weight loss, for 2008 my goal is to lose at least 30 pounds. Eventually, I would like to get to 156. Why 156 you ask? Well, it is a good number for my height, but I will have lost a total of 100 pounds. When that day eventually comes, everyone will know!
In order to keep my progress updated and to hold myself to greater accountability, I will have a weekly weigh in and announce, for the good or the bad, how my progress is coming along. I will also include typical daily intakes in case anyone else is trying to reach a similar goal or is curious on what I am doing each day. Since I am an avid walker, and that is how I get my fitness in, I will also include a mileage notation citing how many total miles I have walked for that weigh in period. For each week, I will be happy with a weight loss of 1 pound. To make my ultimate goal, I will need to lose about 46 pounds more, in addition to what I have already lost.
For everyone out there, resolution or not, may you have a great New Year and may you meet all of your goals in life.
