“A Day of Mourning” Protests in Tehran, Iran

Up to 32 people may have already been killed in the election protests in Iran. Today’s protests will be “a day of mourning” with protestors dressed in black and gathering at holy sites such as mosques to honor the memory of the dead who were protesting the election.

The Wall Street Journal reports that professors at Tehran University have resigned in protest over attacks on students by government militia. A medical student at the university told the Wall Street Journal “He and his roommate blocked their door and hid in closet when they heard militia’s motorcycles approaching….When the militia had left friends and classmates lay unconscious…many with chest wounds from being stabbed or bloody faces from blows to their heads.”

It is a day where the world might want to show solidarity with Iran. I think I will wear black today too to support this movement for fair elections and making sure every vote is truly counted.

Senator John Ensign Marital Affair and Resignation as Chairman of RPC

Republican Senator John Ensign, Nevada, resigns as chairman of the Republican Policy Committee. Why must so many men elected to office taint their success with the scandal of marital infidelity? The marriage vow of “forsake all others” is pretty clear so let’s stop all the philandering! Real men don’t cheat !!

It is now nice to have a president in the White House who clearly adores his wife and is setting a nice example of marital bliss for our country. Republicans need to stop all the whining about Obama’s date nights and appreciate that a wholesome family man is the leader of our country.

Check the sources below to read the NY Times article about a teacher who has opened his 3-room home to 75 relatives who are refugees.

Prayers for capture of Baitullah Mehsud, head of the Taliban in Pakistan, and of Osama bin Laden, believed to be hiding in Pakistan too.
