For our honeymoon my husband and I went to Orange Lake Resort in Orlando, Florida. We were able to stay in this timeshare resort as a gift from my in-laws. This was my first time in Florida and staying at the Orange Lake Resort was a good choice.
The Orange Lake Resort in Orlando, Florida is one of four owned by the company The Family of Orange Lake Resorts. The other locations are in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin; Ascutney, Vermont and Panama City, Florida. The resort in Orlando is in close proximity to Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, SeaWorld and other popular destinations.
Our room was in the main building where guests check in for their stay. Staying in the main building provides quick access to the Internet cafe, restaurants and the arcade. At first I was worried that our room would be noisy from all the nearby activity, but it wasn’t. Our room had tropical decor which made us feel even more relaxed. The room had two full beds though we only used one. There was a kitchen area with stove, refrigerator, dish washer, microwave, and cabinets with dishes and flatware. The room included a dining area with table and chairs. The bathroom was spacious. We did have a problem briefly with our toilet which as promptly fixed by the staff.
We had a nice view of the pool area which was nearby. It was still far enough for us to have our curtains open, but still have privacy. In the hallway was a vending machine where we could rent DVDs to watch in our room. That was very convenient.
Orange Lake Resort also provides a shuttle service to the area parks for a nominal fee. All we had to do was go to the main entrance and wait for the air conditioned shuttle to pick us up. There are a few shuttles and times based on the guest’s destination.
Because we were guests of timeshare owners we were invited to a free spaghetti breakfast in one of the restaurants. The purpose was for a salesperson to talk to us about the benefit of owning a timeshare and encourage us to purchase one. If you don’t want to purchase a timeshare you should decline the offer as it’s not worth the time for the meal that was served. It was all-you-can eat spaghetti, but you feel pressure to chat with the salesperson as they sit there without a meal making small talk with you.
Overall: I enjoyed staying at Orange Lake Resort and would definitely consider purchasing a timeshare there if I were in the market for one. Staying as a guest is a great option if available. The close proximity to the amusement parks makes this a desirable location to stay during a vacation.
