With Emmy season underway, the Primetime Emmy Awards committee will kick off the ‘Clothes Off Our Back’ Auction on Sunday, September 16 alongside the winner’s circle announcements. If you’re looking for a way to play philanthropist as you take in the stars’ latest achievements, the Clothes Off Our Back auction provides ample opportunity to bid on the latest collection of celebrity gowns, tuxedoes, and even TV show costumes from days past. Hollywood memorabilia and other collectibles are showcased on this auction each year, with proceeds shared to a variety of charities including The Art of Elysium World Education, America’s Second Harvest food banks and a number of children’s charities.
The Clothes Off Our Back Foundation launched in 2001, a strictly philanthropic effort from Jane Kaczmarek and Bradley Whitford. The organization supports a public auction, encouraging celebrities and designers to send out their latest wardrobe and accessories for charitable causes. Bidding takes place each Emmy season, and this past season brought forward a handful of accessories from noteworthy stars including Serena Williams, Kate Dillon, Emma Roberts, Aisha Tyler, and Jennifer Love Hewitt. The auction gates open on September 15, but anyone can support the cause without a purchase by sending a donation online instead.
Clothes Off Our Back has also created an online store where supporters can purchase some cozy accessories for winter days ahead. Pick up a classic navy blue or orange beanie hat, or a logoed scarf to show your support, or send an extra-special gift if you’re out of ideas.
If you’re looking for something a little more substantial, or just want to add another book to your culinary library, the Hollywood Cookbook is also available for purchase. All proceeds from the book are donated to Clothes Off Our Back, and the glossy edition is a compilation of celebrity-created concoctions and recipes, along with a celebrity chef component that includes insights from Mario Batali, Wolfgang Puck, Jamie Gwen, and Rocco Dispirito. The celebrity list offers tasty recipes and traditional dishes from the kitchens of Thora Birch, Bob Saget, Anne Hathaway, Brendan Fraser, and Alicia Witt.
So far, over $2 million has been raised for different children’s charities around the globe, and Clothes Off Our Back continues to draw a noteworthy star-studded lineup of participants as a successful charity auction. Interested parties can sign up for an alert online to be notified when the auction begins for its sixth year.
Besides, how else are you going to bid on Eva Mendes’ handbag?
