The Royal is 17 inches wide by 12 inches tall with a height from ¾ of an inch to an inch and a half. The front of the notebook has a nice ledge for your notebook to rest on so no sliding down and fits all width notebooks up to the larger 17 inch widescreen notebook computers.
The three fans are along the middle of the cooling pad half way up and encased in a plastic housing to direct airflow down and away from the bottom of your notebook. The fans are very quiet and I really could not hear them over the noise of my notebook computer I was using for testing.
I ran some temperature tests using the Scythe Kama Thermo Wireless thermometer and found the notebook cooling pad works very well. The aluminum design makes a big difference to help dissipate heat as well as getting the notebook off the flat surface of a desk.
Setting the notebook on the cooling pad without using the cooling fans saw a 5 to 8 degree lower temperature just with the cooling pad getting the notebook off the flat surface. I measured the temperature of the notebook in a few places taking temperatures by pointing the thermometer at spots on the notebook.
I placed the notebook on the cooling pad and then measured in the same spots after allowing for the notebook to set on the pad and adjust to the new environment of being on the pad. I then plugged the fans in and saw another 2 to 4 degrees lower temperature with the fans on as well as the notebook being on the aluminum cooling pad.
The Royal Notebook Cooling Pad does make a great difference in cooling and allows air to circulate under the notebook by getting it up off the surface of the desk. The fans add even more cooling by pulling the air from directly under the notebook out the bottom of the Royal cooling pad through the holes in the pad at the fans.
The holes are not your generic vent grill but nice patterns and in the middle two unicorn creatures facing each other. They are very reminiscent of royalty symbols or coats of arm from old English families and look very cool. The stylish design of the cooling pad matches well with the name and makes for an elegant cooling pad for business or home use.
The Royal Notebook Cooling Pad is a very nice cooling pad for notebook computers up to the wider 17 inch widescreen computers. It works very well with just the fact of keeping the computer off the surface it rests on and works even better with the fans running.
I highly recommend the Scythe Royal Notebook Cooling Pad for a great way to cool your notebook or laptop computer.
