There never seems to be enough time in the day to scratch everything off of our “To Do” lists; bigger, faster and longer seems to be the new motto of the work world. While energy drinks are a popular choice, more and more people are turning to over the counter products for a quick boost of energy. The downfall of such products is simple; the effects only last a few hours, after which you feel even more drained.
Companies like iSatori, NVE and IndiPharm have all been working on formulations that won’t leave you burned out when the effects of the product start to wear off. When I saw the four pack of Energize at my local GNC I decided to give it a try. The very next day I went an purchased an 84 count bottle (suggested retail price $19.99), that was how impressed I was with the results of it. You can purchase Energize at GNV, Vitamin World, select 7-11 stores, CVS and Walgreens. Some stores may ask for you I.D. if you look under the age of 21.
Energize contains the following ingredients: L-Tyrosine, Glucuronolactone, Caffeine, Thebromine, Rhideola Extract, Asian Ginseng Root, Octacosanol. The caffeine is what gives you the energy but the blend of vitamins and herbs are what help you avoid the common pitfalls of other energy drinks and pills. Thebromine is an extract of the cocoa bean; it’s hazardous to animals but in humans it works as a stimulant. Asian Ginseng Root is added to combat fatigue but may also have some antioxidant properties. Octacosanol is the most questionable ingredient, it is rumored to help improve endurance and decrease body fat but no clinical trials have found conclusive evidence of this.
The normal dose is two pills on an empty stomach but iSatori states on the packages that to get the absolute best results, you will need to take three to four pills 30 minutes before a work out with plenty of water. The downside is that it could leave you feeling a little bloated. I took three before a work out and did feel like I could tackle the world and that feeling lasted about four hours after I left the gym. Needless to say, this isn’t something that you are going to want to take in the evening if you want to get to sleep within a six to eight hour time frame.
Unlike ephedrine and ephedra containing products, I didn’t experience any jitters or anxiousness from Energize. I was one of those disgruntled people that threw up my arms in protest when the Food & Drug Administration ordered a ban on ephedrine (which has since been overturned) so having something like this in the interim was nice. This is not for use by anyone under the age of 18 for obvious reasons.
Energize is nice to have on hand if you need an energy boost and their claims of ‘improved metal clarity’ and relieving exhaustion aren’t empty promises. You can not expect any supplement or medication to completely eliminate fatigue but I was impressed with Energize and how it continues to work for me when I use it. Please read the entire package before purchasing and using this and do not exceed the suggested dosage amounts, take more than what is recommended will not increase the effects of Energize.
