Revlon Colorstay Lashcolor mascara is a real disappointment to me. I purchased it at half price from Walgreen’s drug store. Now I think I know the reason why. It is either old stock or damaged.
I believe it cost me around $4. I didn’t keep the receipt on such a small item. It stated on the box:
Suitable for contact lens wearers”.
The color was Blackest black. I thought this would be great for eveningwear. I like to wear either two coats of mascara or a real true black color.
Well the box is beautifully designed. Clear at the front, with gold cardboard holding the mascara. The rest of the box is black. The tube itself is elegant. Black with a gold colored lid, and gold circles below the lid.
The writing on the mascara wand is also gold lettering. I must say that Revlon did a great job of selling me the product, via its presentation.
The first time I opened it and took out the wand, it looked as if the brush had very little bristles. I put it on my eyelashes, and it was a deep black, but seemed rather dry. Certainly not a luster like the Estee Lauder products I use. I did put a second coat on, and really took my time covering each lash. It stayed on fine and didn’t smudge.
I found no problems in removing it at night. I just used one of my favorite cleansers.
The next couple of times I used it, I realized what the problem was. The mascara liquid itself seemed to have almost dried up. The bristles were kind of lying flat against the brush instead of being upright. So my thoughts are, “Did they sell it cheaper because they had complaints about it?”
I didn’t want to throw it away so I trickled a little water into the tube of the mascara and moved the brush around. The next day when I used the mascara it was a better consistency and actually worked and covered my eyelashes pretty good. I was able to get about 3 months of daily use out of the mascara in the end.

Would I recommend it.
No way. It would have been useless if I hadn’t used water with it. If I had paid full price I would have taken it back. This is the first Revlon product I have been extremely unhappy with.
