Recently we received an e-mail from one of our dedicated readers. She was describin’ her favorite restaurant and asked if perhaps we could tell all our readers about it. This reader had so many accolades fer the Fostoria Country Club that we had to try it twice. To be honest things were so good the first time we couldn’t believe that this special jewel was real. The Prime rib on Saturday evenings is superb. The Horseradish encrusted Salmon was a spicy delight.
Located at 747 Independence Dr. in Fostoria, Ohio this wonderful place is beautiful. They are open Sunday through Thursday 9 am till 830 pm Friday and Saturday 9 am till 9 pm. Call ’em with questions at 419-435-4248. Yes the dining room is open fer public dining.
Today was our second visit and we were equally impressed. The ambiance of the Fostoria Country Club dining room and that special view overlookin’ the swimming pool with the golf course in the background was delightful. The relaxed service allows gentle conversation fer business or pleasure. Our server this day was Carol. She is delightful and professional in all she does. I’m sure she has learned the lessons of good service as well.
This was a late lunch or early supper however you wish to look at it. Bonnie ordered a pork tenderloin sandwich that was pounded, lightly breaded and deep fried to perfection, even cut in half it was a two-fisted sandwich. She enhanced it with onion rings and a cup of chicken noodle soup. I also had the chicken noodle soup. It was a light soup with what appeared to be homemade noodles. I am a hot dog lover so ordered a quarter pound hot dog with onions, jalepenos, and mustard. It was soo big it hung out both sides of the bun. The French Fries were nice and crisp and very hot comin’ right from the fryer. Carol managed to stay ahead of us keepin’ the coffee cups full at every moment. Hold your fork the best is yet to come…
Dessert has always been special fer us. I’m sure the fruit pies that Carol mentioned were great but Bonnie had a taste fer that special dessert we enjoyed the first time here. Pecan Ice Cream Ball. It is a generous scoop of good vanilla ice cream, rolled in chopped pecans, flooded with hot fudge, and topped with whipped toppin’. We shared this delight since a dessert shared has no countable calories.
We did it again. Dinner, beverages, dessert, sales tax, and a generous gratuity fer under $30. We will be back so if y’all want a special meal with good service head over to the Fostoria Country Club. If we’re not there just tell ’em Bubba and Bonnie sent ya.
