In North Mississippi there’s a lot of great music coming out of little recording studio located about halfway between Oxford and Batesville, Mississippi in Panola County called Coles Point Studio. Here two people with a great love of music play, write and record all types of artists. Their names are Tom Jervis and Mark Glidewell.
Tom and Mark both professional musicians who met in Oxford, Mississippi, approximately ten years ago while working became friends. In 2003 they decided to open the recording studio to provide quality recording capability to local bands in the North Mississippi area at a reasonable price. Their goal was to give younger musicians in the area the opportunities they had never found.
Both men feel that “this is where God put us”, and apparently, they’re correct because the studio has been amazingly successful because they have just recently released a compilation CD of different artists which is spreading rapidly. The CD is aptly named “Made in Mississippi”. In fact, the CD is so popular, Tom and Mark are working on a “Made in Mississippi, Volume 2.”
Although Tom and Mark, were guitar players with several rock and blues bands over the past, they have been surprised by the amount of rap musicians recording in their studio. To their surprise and delight, this has given them the opportunity to become more involved with all genres of music. The studio has recorded such diverse areas of music as gospel, country, rock and rap.
Tom and Mark not only record musicians, but they also are available to help or fully produce the music upon request. Their desire is to help the artists develop and perform the best possible music. In addition, they act as studio musicians and even write some of the songs.
For those interested in recording at Coles Point Studio, the location is on Sardis Lake Drive off Highway No. 6 in Panola County. This is approximately 12 miles east of Batesville, Mississippi, and 12 miles west of Oxford, Mississippi.
Coles Point Studio rate is $35.00 per hour for services. More information is available on their web page at http://www.myspace.com/colespointstudio. The web page also includes the opportunity to listen to some the various music professionally recorded in the Coles Point Studio.
Tom Jervis and Mark Glidewell look forward to many more years of working with all types of musicians in helping them find their audience.
