There are many types of rides/attractions available for all of us to enjoy at the Niagara Falls. We enjoyed most of those rides and most important attractions through purchase of the total composite passport purchased by us that covers total six main rides/attractions. This passport gives you savings of around 40% as compared with the individual purchase of the ride tickets. One of the most vital attractions covered under this passport is the IMAX movie that is shown recently at the visitor’s center on the prospect point. New movie named as “Niagara: Legends of Adventure” is shown this summer at the new Niagara Adventure Theater at the lower level of the visitor’s center.
The IMAX Theater is located at the central location at the ground floor of the visitor’s center. This theater is having a 45 feet screen, 1.5 times the normal cinema screen and is equipped with the digital Dolby sound effects The sitting arrangement is in semi circular shape giving all the viewers a good view. The individual ticket is $12 per adult and $7 per child between 6years and 12 years of age. The movie is of 40 minutes duration and covers the entire history of Niagara fall. The movie travels through the span of 12000 years within 40 minutes and we feel enriched with knowledge about Niagara Falls when we come out of the movie. The movie is produced by Academy Award winner producer Keith Merrill. The movie starts with the scenes of North America, about 12000 years before. The entire region was full of snow glaciers at that time. Slowly the snow started melting over the years and the big sea of water resulted. This water started flowing forming the legendary Niagara Falls. The water flowing at present through the Niagara Falls is around 1,500,000 gallons every second. There are only two other falls in the world having water flows in excess of Niagara Falls.
The film also shows the two most daring adventures made by the persons in the past. One of them is Great Blondin, who completed the tight rope walk above the Niagara River across both the shores in the year 1859. The other incident covers adventure of 43 year old school teacher, named Anna Taylor, who was the first person to jump over the falls in the wooden barrel and surviving to tell about her story. One of the striking facts about Niagara Falls is that the fall on American side was completely dehydrated in the year 1969 from June to November. Not a single drop of water was flowing through the falls during this time. This was done as the rocks falling incidents were found increasing at a rapid rate on American side of the fall. We all were shocked to view the totally dry Niagara Falls. Later on, in November 1969, the normal water flow was reestablished.
It is suggested to see this movie in the afternoon or early evening hours as it would give you some rest after tiring walks of other adventurous rides. The movie shows start at every hour from 10 am to 8 pm in the evening every day. The free complementary head sets are available in six other languages, namely French, German, Chinese, Spanish, Japanese, and the Korean. It is estimated that the 14 million people have watched this movie world wide till date.
The trip to Niagara Falls cannot be completed till you watch this movie, “Niagara: Legends of Adventure”.
