When we visited Niagara Falls recently, our main concern was how we shall reach all the different spots of attractions without getting tired. This was due to the reason that some of us were in the age group of 70 years and above and were not in a position to walk long distance. Traveling in our car can cause lot of problems in parking. We were pleasantly surprised to find the most suitable and economical way to travel within Niagara Falls area all throughout the day till late evening hours. Niagara Scenic Trolley is the means that provide easy, quick and economical transportation between many site seeing points located within 3 miles of area at the Niagara Falls. The trolley moves at a very slow speed so that you can enjoy all the breathtaking views of the Niagara Falls. The trolley guide also explains the importance of each of the spot along with its history during the travel.
The trolley service begins at 9 am in the morning and ends at 10 pm in the late evening. The full day transportation ticket is $2 per adult. If you buy the composite passport covering six attractions at the price of $28 per adult, this trolley transportation is included in that. The separate ticket is $1 per each journey you make. You are given a wrist band in exchange of your full day pass that you have to tie on your wrist all through the day to show to the trolley staff. The trolley starts from the prospect point that is very close to the visitor’s center and runs through various stops like Lake Gardens, American Rapids Bridge, Goat Island, Terrapin point, Top of the Falls restaurant, three sisters Island, and Nicola Tesla Memorial taking you back finally to visitor’s center. The best way is to board the trolley and get down at each of the above spots for viewing scenic views and reboard in the next trolley. The trolleys are plying every 15 minutes so there is no problem in getting down at all the spots one by one to get full enjoyment of all the scenic views. The most beautiful view of the Horse shoe fall is available from The Terrapin point. The most beautiful view of the Americans Rapids is seen from the “Three sisters Island”. The long leisurely walks and hikes can be available from American Rapids Bridge. It is not allowed to board the trolley while consuming food or a drink. The ticket stations are available at each of the spots mentioned above. The seats are very comfortable and the glass windows are very large offering great views all through the travel.
It is suggested to keep some time margin while traveling by trolley in the late evening hours as the trolleys run full during this period and you may have to wait for half an hour to 45 minutes sometimes to catch the next trolley. This is particularly true in the peak summer season when maximum tourists visit Niagara Falls. It is also suggested to take care of your children during the travel by trolley due to heavy rush sometimes. There is also a provision for physically handicapped persons to travel by this trolley service. If you have any questions on this trolley service, you can contact me or the New York State park staff at phone 716- 278-1730.
