Safeway Select Self Rising Crust Frozen Pizza is a popular item among Genuardi’s or Safeway shoppers. Priced at just $5.99 per twenty nine point six ounce pie, this product is ell within a family’s budget for a quick weeknight dinner. Frozen pizza is no family’s optimum choice in nutrition, but those hectic week nights with school and after school activities sometimes force even the most health conscious families to make less than stellar choices. Safeway Select Self Rising Crust Frozen Pizza is affordable, but does it satisfy? That answer depends solely on your preference of crust.
Safeway Select Self Rising Crust Frozen Pizza is flavored with a tasty sauce. The sauce is often the most complained about aspect of frozen pizza. The tomato sauce simply doesn’t have a tasty enough flavor to satisfy it’s consumers. It is either too sweet or too bland. Safeway Select Self Rising Crust Frozen Pizza has a tasty sauce that is neither too sweet, nor too spicy. Bland is definitely not a description I would place on this product. The sauce is tasty enough without being overpowering. I had absolutely no complaints about Safeway Select Self Rising Crust Frozen Pizza’s sauce.
To feed our family of four, my husband purchased two different flavors of Safeway Select Self Rising Crust Frozen Pizza. One was the Quattro Formaggio Four Cheese Pizza and the other was Primo Pepperoni Pepperoni Pizza. My daughters prefer plain cheese pizza to all other variables, so the Quattro Formaggio was for them. I love Pepperoni Pizza as does my husband, so the second choice was to feed us.
Preparation of Safeway Select Self Rising Crust Frozen Pizza is simple. The directions state two different types of baking depending upon the type of crust you prefer. The box states that for a crisper crust, the pizza should be placed on the center rack in a non preheated oven for twenty minutes at four hundred degrees. No cookie sheet is required for the crisper crust. After following these directions to a tee, the crust was less than crispy. The pizza was done and without wanting to overcook it, I removed it from the oven.
Was the pizza tasty? Yes. After sampling both flavors of Safeway Select Self Rising Crust Frozen Pizza, I was delighted by the quality of the product. The taste of sauce, cheese and pepperoni was above average in the frozen pizza. My only complaint with the product was the crust.
After following the directions stated on the box, the crust on the Safeway Select Self Rising Crust Frozen Pizza was still soft and doughy. I am a Jersey girl and most people from New Jersey have a definite idea of what pizza should taste like. Even when eating frozen pizza, we can not let go of our high standards of pizza and yes, that includes the crust. Should the Self Rising Crust part of the title have clued me in to the fact that the crust would not be the thin crust that us New Jerseyans prefer? Possibly. But with the instructions stated on the back of the box that a crispier crust can be attained, I was optimistic that the crust would not be as doughy as it was.
If you want a great tasting frozen pizza with a soft and doughy crust, you will have absolutely no complaints with Safeway Select Self Rising Crust Frozen Pizza and rate it at five stars. This is a quality product at an affordable price. The sauce, cheese and toppings are all tasty and definitely worth the inexpensive price. Because of my distaste of this frozen pizza’s crust, I will rate this product four out of five stars. That rating reflects more on the fact that you can’t get the New Jersey out of the girl, rather than Safeway Select Self Rising Crust Frozen Pizza’s quality.
