Robert Pattinson got hit by a taxi, as the latest example of how obsessed Robert Pattinson’s fans are. Robert Pattinson was hit by a taxi because Pattinson was paying more attention to his screaming fans than the road. When attempting to leave a New York bookstore and get away from his fans, Robert Pattinson headed right for a taxi instead. Getting hit by a taxi finally quieted the crazed fans, though not in the way they wanted, of course. But Pattison lived to make ladies swoon and chase him into a taxi another day.
People.com first reported that Robert Pattinson was hit by a taxi after running from his fans. They found him at the Strand bookstore in New York and chased him until Pattinson was reportedly struck on the hip by a taxi.
Robert Pattinson is in New York in the first place to film one of his non-Twilight movies, entitled Remember Me. Girls haven’t been able to forget Robert Pattinson since seeing him as Edward Cullen, and therein lay the problem yesterday.
While in New York, Pattinson has allegedly been swarmed with fans ever since he started filming, as they try to get a look at the heart throb.
Summit Entertainment, the movie studio that made Pattinson a star with Twilight, and who has more to lose than anyone if something happens to him, has protected their big star with a team of bodyguards since he arrived in New York. Pattinson has hired his own security team for good measure.
After Pattinson was hit by the taxi, one of the bodyguards allegedly yelled at the fans themselves, screaming that they almost killed him. However, the taxi didn’t come close to seriously hurting him, as Pattinson was able to walk away with no injuries.
People reported that Pattinson, for all the insanity his fans show, is still grateful and appreciative of their devotion. However, when Pattinson did a cover story for GQ, he told them that he thinks someone could easily stab him in one of those mad crowds.
Pattinson has only been the center of fangirl worship for about a year, so he is still just getting used to it. Twilight has made him the center of the vampire and human universe, and it only stands to increase when Twilight: New Moon opens this November.
Since the taxi didn’t hurt him, Pattinson can still film Remember Me, square off with New York Twilight fans, and try in vain to break away from the Edward Cullen image with non-Twilight movies.
