This article is about trying so hard to get somewhere and never moving. It is like running in place. Many times, we try move forward and it is not the right time, situation, place or feeling. I have discovered that it is with ourselves to break free from this pattern. It may never be the right time or place, in your reasoning mind. This is why it is so difficult to move forward, for some of us. We want everything to be right. We want assurance that we won’t fail or have to return. This confidence is within you. You have to decide to go and know that it is you that will maintain that strength and courage.
Moving forward in any aspect of your life is a challenge. It can be hard, painful or joyful. Many times, we fear the worst and know that the bad things will outnumber the good. This is most likely not true. We are afraid. The fear chains you and keeps you in a horrible place that you may feel safe in. In reality, you are not growing, maturing or reaching goals that you can reach. You cannot depend on other’s support to get you out of this place, since it needs to be you that you rely on most, to move forward. Yes, the bad things that you fear may happen. You have to deal with them to grow. This takes patience and time. The sun will shine, in the end and you will reach a dreamed of goal. That makes all of the struggle worth it.
The hardest part is taking that first step. You must make your choice and proceed. It is a mind thing. You have to keep a positive outlook, courage and strength by your side. Know that you will win. This attitude has saved me from making wrong choices and helped me out of bad situations. When I am certain that I will succeed, I often do. Even when I do not, if I try, I am always pleased and often get a surprise, in the end, that is good. The reward of trying is great. The benefits of hope are wonderful. Without it, you are in for quite a battle. When you take that first step, in your mind, to move forward, toward a goal, you begin walking. Keep a steady pace and never stop moving. By that, I mean, do not look back. Feel positive about what you are going and what you are trying to do and know that you are your best friend and advisor.
Yes, having a friend, relative or therapist, if needed, is always good. Just keep in mind that you have issues within yourself that only you can deal with. Only you can reach some places, within you. I have found this to be true and it helps me cope with what people refer to as being hard headed. It is a hard pattern to break. When you do, you will be open to listen to and actually hear everyone’s opinions and good advice. You have to be able to take it, before it can help you. Stop running and walk, to that next goal. Doing this has made me more careful, wiser and less apt to make mistakes. My favorite saying is you can do it! You can! Do not talk yourself out of it, just do it. Make your mind move with you.
