What is wrong with North Korea? Why would such a small country want to upset the rest of the world?
By now, most everyone has heard about North Korea’s threats to South Korea, the United States and other countries. For the past year, North Korea has been producing plutonium and performing weapons testing with missiles. When the UN stepped in with complaints, North Korea ignored it and increase their weapons production and testing. They launched a test missile recently and it is rumored that they will be firing a long range missile towards Hawaii. US military advisers have said that it will take North Korea about five years to become a serious threat to the Western United States but this is the first step towards that.
What I find hilarious about this situation with North Korea is that their country is about the size of Pennsylvania, so the United States is at least 40 times bigger than North Korea. What does North Korea expect to accomplish when it is so small and has so little power? They are like a little brat trying to act like giants in the world of giants.
I think that North Korea is causing this trouble because the leader wants attention. Kim Jong-Il is preparing to step down as leader and his son will replace him, so he’s trying to show force and power before leaving. Obviously, Kim Jong-Il doesn’t know that he needs a bigger, more powerful country in order to have power.
I have three solutions to the problem of North Korea as threats.
First, Pres. Obama can go on camera with a table of plastic toy soldiers. The camera zooms in on the toys in the here Obama saying “This is North Korea. And this is North Korea when we attack them,” as we see his fist coming down, slamming into the table and the toy soldiers crashing everywhere. That should be a strong statement of North Korea.
Secondly, Pres. Obama and on camera can simply tell North Korea that it would only take a few of our missiles to disable their country for the next 50 years. It is simple, honest and relays the whole situation in North Korea.
Thirdly, we can simply ignore North Korea and Kim Jong-Il and act like they don’t exist. I think that this would be the most hurtful method for the little country trying to be a bully. We don’t mention them in the news, we cut off all trade with them, we cut off all talks with them and everything. To top it all off, we could take control of the satellites that send them television signals and force them to only watch the golf Channel or something. The only problem with this method is that North Korea might get angrier and continue their weapons production. It would be quite funny for a few months.
I just find it ridiculous for North Korea to show all of these videos of their armies marching in the streets as if they are big shots with lots of power. I am sure that their armies are tiny compared to the largest of the world’s armies. If I was a soldier in their army, I don’t think that I could march like that without laughing continuously.
I don’t think that North Korea should be causing so much trouble when I am sure that most of their country’s products and food supply comes from imports. I also do not think that North Korea has much in the way of exports either. When is the last time you bought something that was made in North Korea? I can’t think of anything. North Korea has little bargaining power and the need to accept that they are a little fish in a big pond of sharks. The best way for them to operate is hidden and unheard, so that the sharks did not know they exist.
China would be a big threat to the world if they ever decided to act like North Korea because they actually do have the power. China is friends with North Korea but even they are against North Korea’s actions simply because China needs to keep up its trade with the United States and the rest of the world. China knows that they get hundreds of trillions of dollars from the rest of the world. In trade, China operates under a guise of cooperation with the rest of the world’s superpowers because it benefits them. North Korea has no friends in this situation and the need to realize these as soon as possible before one of the world powers actually attacks them.
