The economy remains in rough shape, and that is not going to change any time soon, despite promises of a stimulated economy. We are all spending less and yet, time and trends march on, with we consumers trailing behind, wishing for our own stimulus check to invest in Spring clothes, handbags, shoes and makeup. Certainly, we know that a fortune can be spent on a single handbag or pair of pumps, but in many cases, designer makeup can take a good sized bite out of your budget, too.
Spring 2009 is nearly here and with its arrival comes new and exciting makeup trends to try and die for. But how can you afford to look up to date when one eye shadow palette might cost you $60 or more? There is a fresh faced solution for the trend conscious woman who wants her own fresh-faced look in Spring 2009, and that solution is found at Aromaleigh Mineral Makeup.
This decade old, independent mineral makeup company provides cutting edge, good for your skin and wallet, mineral makeup that is always in step with, or ahead of any makeup trend here, or just around the corner. How can one, small, creator owned and operated company meet all of your Spring 2009 makeup needs? If anyone one knows how to provide color for all, it Kristen Leigh Bell, founder of Aromaleigh Mineral Makeup. Let’s take a look at a few of Spring 2009’s up and coming makeup trends through the eyes and never ending colors of Aromaleigh mineral makeup, found at www.aromaleigh.com.
Smooth, flawless skin is always in style, but in the Spring of 2009, gorgeous matte foundations will provide the canvas needed for creating the contoured face that will be so trendy this season. If you haven’t tried an all natural mineral makeup foundation, look no farther than Aromaleigh. No matter your skin tone, cool or warm, dark or very light, there is a foundation color that is perfect for you. Spring 2009 is the perfect time to give this form of foundation a try, and with the generous samples available at Aromaleigh, you can experiment to your heart’s content.
The Contoured Face-Step One
With the perfect backdrop of a matte foundation, the contoured face allows you to showcase your cheekbones and other features. But, how does one contour with makeup and with what type of makeup do you contour with? Many sites are recommending using a brown eye shadow for contouring your cheekbones. That is certainly one way to do it, but Aromaleigh has something better that won’t look as heavy or artificial. Created for the Holiday 2007 gift set, Elemental Cheek Glistens work wonders when it comes to contouring under the cheekbones while creating a delicate, luxe glow.
To begin, select one the the two shades of Aromaleigh Elemental Cheeks Glistens; Kinetic, or the more pale, Luminary. While both of these wonderful cheek colors can be used right on the cheeks for a lovely, indescribable glow, they do a great job of contouring, too. I use Kinetic and a small blush brush in the hollows under my cheekbones–suck in your cheeks to find them. Use a small amount of Cheek Glisten and a light hand, blending very well, upward into the cheek. You want the look of a natural, chiseled cheekbone, not the look of having dirt on your face, so practice, practice, practice. You’ll get the hang of it very soon and then you can move onto the next step in creating this Spring 2009 look.
The Peach Cheek-Step two
Bronze and bronzers are out in the Spring 2009, but the peach cheek is very in and is step two on the contoured face. Peach cheek color can be found in a shade to compliment most any woman’s skin, providing a light, warm, natural look just right for Spring. Look to Aromaleigh Mineral Makeup to find the perfect peach for your cheeks, or peaches, there are so many peaches to choose from.
In the Pure Rouge collection there are several peachy keen rouges for your appraisal. Nectar is a pale, iridescent pinky-peach rouge, while Glazed is a gorgeous, neutral peach-pink that’s got more oomph. Epitome is a warm coral-peach that shimmers, and those are just a few of the numerous choices. Since ample sized sample bags of each product are available, you can choose as many colors as you’d like to try before you buy a full size. How many makeup companies give you this option?
Other peach cheek alternatives can be found in the Illuminating Perle Powder collection, such as the clear, light golden peach of Solace, or Splendor, a glowing peach with beige undertones. Also, be sure to check of Rococo from the Gothic Lolita Rouge collection. This top selling rouge is a fresh, nectar colored peach that will light up your face.
Once you’ve chosen the pretty peach for you, apply this blush to the apples of your cheeks, sweeping it up towards the temple. Remember that a little dab will do ya. You are going for a natural, fresh look so use a light hand and a really good brush. On to step three!
Highlighting The Cheek-The Final Step
You’ve contoured and you’ve given your cheeks a a peachy glow, now it is time to highlight. Highlighting the cheek area is not difficult or tricky. You simply use a light powder with a sheer tone over the tops of the cheekbones to light up your face. Again, I turn to Aromaleigh Illuminating Perle Powder for my highlighting needs. My favorite is Allure, a lovely champagne color that is a wonderful eye highlighter, too. Other glowing choices include Lux, described as a “wash of pale light,”and Illusion which sheds a lovely golden light onto your cheeks. Again, use a good brush and a light hand. You want to look like you’re glowing, not as if you might glow in the dark.
The Spring 2009 Smoky Eye
The smoky eye remains one of the must have makeup looks for Spring 2009, only this season it’s less bold but just as dramatic. The smoky eye needn’t be a scary prospect and with practice, anyone can use this look. Aromaleigh’s Bete Noir eye shadow Collection is perfectly suited for the Spring 2009 smoky eye. This collection of 13 unique, multidimensional eye shadows provide a dramatic and very sexy eye color.
I have to admit that I was a bit afraid of these rich colors when I first saw the swatches for the Bete Noir Eye shadow Collection, introduced in late 2008. So intimidated was I, that I didn’t order a set of samples within minutes of seeing them, which is very unlike me. I am sorry now that I did not try them sooner, as they are among my favorite Aromaleigh eye shadows now. While it is true that they are very richly pigmented, these eye shadows glide on smoothly and you can easily control the intensity of the color with the proper brush. The highlights and low lights of these mysterious eye shadows defy description, but the end result of pure, vampy, glamour.
To create the Spring 2009 smoky eye look, first choose a lighter shadow to sweep over the entire lid, from lash line to crease. Then proceed with the deeper, smoky color, working it into the crease and up onto the brow bone, blending very well. You can also apply a bit of the smoky color under the lower lash line for extra drama. I love Bete Noir Colette, a smoky indigo blue with blue sparks. Violet Lisette and steel blue Bette are two other eye popping Bete Noir colors that I love. With so many smoking hot colors, you will soon find your own favorites.
Finish off your own Spring 2009 smoky eye look with one of Aromaleigh’s Pure Drama or Drama Queen eye liners. Because violet eye liner is hot, hot, hot this Spring, Pure Drama Violet or Drama Queen Violet make the perfect choices. If you haven’t used a powdered eye liner before, you will want to invest in a thin, flat liner brush. I like to use a good, stiff, angled brow brush.
The Neutral Eye
As a contrast to the dramatic, smoky eye for Spring 2009, the neutral eye is another makeup trend to try and master. The neutral eye is just that…natural and neutral in color tones. There is some debate as to what neutral is this season, with pale pinks, violets and blues being grouped in the the
neutral colors. In the end, you are aiming for a soft, subtle eye appearance.
Aromaleigh Eye Plush Collection has 15 go-to colors that will help you create the neutral eye look in a snap. Described as soft and comfortable colors, these shadows are not matte nor are they frosts, but fall somewhere in between. These are the colors, and this is the eye look, that are perfectly suited to work settings or weekend jean days.
With this dreamily plush collection there is simply no doubt that you will find the perfect neutral, or neutral colors to suit your many Spring 2009 moods. Prim Tweed is a cool, gray taupe color with rose and violet undertones. Dollhouse is a cozy purple with beige and gray undertones and Pink Negligee is a sexy pink plush with violet undertones. These are just three of the gorgeously sheer neutral, plush eye shadows, perfect for layering to give you the neutral look of your hearts desire.
The Metallic Eye
In the Spring of 2009, the metallic eye remains a favorite trend, with gold and silver eye shadows being the “must have” colors. The Aromaleigh Elemental Lustres Eye shadow collection offers all of the colors that you will need if you dare to dabble in the metallic eye trend. Elemental Lustre Gleam eye shadow is a gleaming, pure, metallic gold, while Ego is a velvet like gold with undertones of khaki. Either of these shadows will give you a decidedly golden metallic eye for Spring 2009.
When it comes to silver, Fume Elemental lustre could not be more true. I adore fume, both as an eye shadow and as an unexpected eyeliner. Both Startle and Psyche are other metallic silver shadow option with differing undertones to suit your skin tone and comfort zone.
Also, do not forget to take a look at the brand new Opulent Lustre Collection, the sister collection to the Elemental Lustres. These more subtle metallic shadows come in a host of Spring appropriate colors and are more light and sheer for those wanting a less flashy metallic eye look for Spring 2009.

As we have seen, Spring 2009 makeup trends brings a host of contrasting looks. The lip trends for Spring are no different. The red lip continues its long run and the neutral lip Spring 2009 trend is here and ready to compliment the neutral eye trend.
Aromaleigh’s all natural lipsticks and Nourishing Color Cremes will provide all of the color choices to keep you on top of the trends without making your lips pucker over the cost of a single lipstick. When looking at reds, the reds in the Aromaleigh Color Infusion Botanical Lipsticks Collection are picture perfect for Spring 2008.
