Looking for a great place to take the family for a fun-filled summer vacation? Make your way to Orlando, Florida. Universal Studios & Islands of Adventure are a place everyone in the family will enjoy, regardless of age. There is something there for everyone, it has everything to offer from incredible live shows to intense rides for the thrill seeker.
Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure are two separate amazing theme parks, both owned by Universal, and on the same grounds. So walking from one to the other is a cinch. I would highly recommend taking advantage of a park hopper pass so you can enjoy both incredible parks.
Islands of Adventure is just as the title states, it’s many different islands filled with adventure! You will start your visit there by entering the Port of Entry, an amazing area built to look like a village where pioneers have settled. There is a variety of shops where you can find all kinds of neat souvenirs. They even have delicious food booths and shops to try out. From the moment you step inside of Islands of Adventure, you will feel as though you’ve entered a whole new world.
Marvel Island: After your time in the Port of Entry you will begin your adventure on one of the many islands. No worries, these islands are separated by short bridges, no swimming involved! I would recommend to start your day by heading left onto Marvel Island. If you are a comic book or super hero fan, then you’re going to love this place. Stepping foot onto the island you’ll immediately feel as though you’ve been pulled inside of a comic with super heroes and villains surrounding you. Here you’ll find some of the most amazing rides in the world. One of them has even been featured on Discovery Channel!
Toon Island: Make way for the next amazing island! If you’re feeling hot from the summer heat, then this is the place for you. It has everything from cool delicious ice cream, to exciting water rides. There is even water spouting from the floor and structures in certain areas so you can run through them and cool off.
Jurassic Park Island: If you enjoyed the movie, then you’re going to have a blast here. It truly feels like you are stepping right onto the real Jurassic Park. This island has the most amazing foliage. Here you will find food that will satisfy even the largest dinosaur. There is also another ride on this island to satisfy your need to cool off from the summer heat.
The Lost Continent: Take a step into the mythical days when dragons roamed the Earth and Wizards ruled with magical spells. You can enjoy everything from live shows to an incredible dueling roller coaster. They even have an amazing restaurant on this island, that has been featured as being the best theme park restaurant in the U.S. The menu is great, and they even have a variety of items for vegetarians.
Dr. Seuss Island: Get ready kids, this place is just the thing for you! From fun foods, to rides the whole family can enjoy, this is a great island to end the day on. It will put a smile on your face with all of the bright and cheerful colors that surround you.
Don’t head home just yet, there is still many exciting things to do at Universal Studios. So head on over and “Ride the Movies”! This place is awesome for the whole family. You will get to ride and feel a part of all your favorite movies. There is also incredible shows that will leave you laughing with enjoyment.
The food is great and they even offer an all day eating pass! You pay one fee and can eat as much as you’d like from select restaurants. I know for many families this will save them a lot of money, allowing them to spend it on more fun and enjoyable things for their special day.
Throughout your walk through the theme park you’ll feel as though you’re traveling across the U.S. You’ll enter the old streets of New York, to the glamorous Hollywood. Characters will be out and about every where you look around. Be sure to have the kids bring their autograph books for this wonderful experience to meet all of their favorite cartoon characters. You can even take a blast into the past and meet characters such as the Flinstones, Marilyn Monroe, and Lucy from the I Love Lucy show.
No trip is quite complete without an amazing hotel, and Orlando offers just that! There are many incredible and affordable hotels close to the theme parks. Most hotels offer complimentary shuttles to and from the parks. Universal even has on site hotels that are simply great and feature all of the amenities to make you feel like royalty. They are themed for enjoyment and are the perfect compliment to an already superb vacation.
