The festivals of Colorado are robust, outdoor events, surrounded by the natural, scenic beauty of the region and the fresh, clean outdoor air. Festivals and fairs are an excellent opportunity for a family gathering, where you can stroll outdoors, be entertained, eat festival food and spend quality time having fun with friends and family members. Some of the festivals in Colorado this summer include the Colorado Renaissance Festival and Artisans Marketplace, Pike’s Peak or Bust Rodeo Days and the Colorado State Fair.
Colorado Renaissance Festival and Artisans Marketplace weekends June 13 – August 2
The medieval village at the Colorado Renaissance Festival is celebrating the 33rd season. Visitors take a magical tour to a legendary time in a village marketplace, along with King Henry. Artisans in attendance create original artworks using the ancient handcrafts. Artisans demonstrate and sell their goods in the marketplace. Festival food, such as turkey legs, can be eaten by hand as you stroll along the lanes along with quirky characters that are part history and part fantasy. A cast of hundreds of costumed characters live and work in the historic village. Visitors can participate in the fun by wearing costumes and playact along with the costumed actors. The festivals seven stages offer continuous entertainment in a recreation of a rollicking 16th Century festival. The Colorado Renaissance Festival is a family friendly event held in Castle Rock, CO.
Pike’s Peak or Bust Rodeo Days July 8-22
The western themed event is fun for the family and benefits military and community charities at the same time. Some of the events include Indian dancers, Wild West gunfights, mechanical bull rides, roping demonstrations, chuck wagons, children’s activities, entertainment in the outdoor tent, mutton bustin’, a parade, a rodeo queen and Ranch Rodeo.
The Pike’s Peak Rodeo made a commitment after World War II to support the area’s community and military charities. They have donated over $1.5 million to area charities.
Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo Days is at the Norris Penrose Event Center in Colorado Springs, CO.
Colorado State Fair and Rodeo August 28 – September 7
The Colorado State Fair and Rodeo is held at the Colorado State Fairgrounds in Pueblo, CO. The lively annual event includes rodeos, stages of entertainment, carnival, animals, agriculture and other attractions.
