So, you have a young toddler who is ready to go on their first beach vacation, unlike previous years when they were younger you need to come up with activities for them. One can be to make a sand drizzle castle, it’s fun and easy even for toddlers to do. Learning how to make a large traditional sandcastle might be a little too advanced for your two to five year old, but we all know they like playing with dirt. You can show them how to combine sand and water for form mud, and then actually encourage them to play with it. Your kids might think that mom and dad have lost their mind, but you will be glad you taught them this simple task of creating a very basic sand castle. It will keep them entertained for awhile on the beach while you relax on vacation. While teaching them how to make this version of a sandcastle you might even bring back your own childhood memories.
So, how do you make a sand drizzle castle? It’s actually extremely simple. The first thing you need to do is go and fill up a bucket with water from the ocean. Fill it all the way up because you know you will lose some of the water as you carry it back to your area where you child is waiting for you. Of course even better is to let your child carry a bucket and fill it up with you, but if you do this make sure you fill yours up as well. Kids lose a lot if not all their water in the bucket on the way back up the beach. Place the bucket on the ground, and then put several handfuls of sand in the bucket. This will start to form mud out of the sand and water. Next, your child will be shocked when you actually encourage them to put their hands in the mud. Have them get a nice handful of mud in their hand. Then then them to let a think line of mud start to drop out from the opening between their first finger and middle finger. As the sand hits the ground it will start to form small towers. Show your toddler how by moving their hand they can create multiple “towers” or designs in the sand. If you run out of this sand mud mix, add more sand to the water until you are out of water. Then of course you can go back and get more water to create more mud from the beach sand. Show your child how they can let it pile up and start to form their own sand creation.
While this will not look like a classic sand castle, it will be one that your toddler can create on their own. After showing them how to do it, sit back and let them explore their own creativity. They will explore different ways of dropping the mud to make designs. Don’t worry, you won’t miss a thing. They will be bringing you back over to view their creation several times as they complete it. Creating sand drizzle castles are good because the only item you need to buy is a bucket. They are simple enough even young toddlers can learn how to make them. Your children will love it because they will be playing with mud. All this combines to create a great summer beach activity that allows your child to express their creativity and allow you to return to your childhood memories as you demonstrate making sand drizzle castles to your child.
