From the day we are born we have bones and start using our bones in many ways. As we grow older we tend to abuse our bones more and more which can one day cause bad damage in the long run. This problem is painful, but yet cannot be seen unless by an x-ray, but can be preventable by doing the right things. This problem that affects more than thirty-million people is called, Osteoporosis. This is a problem that is caused by fragile bones due to low bone mass which can cause many problems for our bodies and overall health. In this article I will discuss the causes of this Osteoporosis, how to prevent it, and how to treat it and give you back the use of your bones.

The first topic I will discuss about Osteoporosis is the causes of this illness. This illness is caused by fragile bones which come from low bone mass and low bone tissue, this affects a person’s ability to perform everyday tasks and live an independent life. This illness usually happens around the age of thirty and thereafter, mostly in women but can also affect men as well. The main cause of Osteoporosis is when bones in the body start reforming after peak bone mass have been met. When the reforming process begins it usually takes away more bone mass than is being replaced which causes this bad illness. This causes the bones to become fragile which can lead to them being broken more easily and cause many complications with our bodies. This can happen over many years and sometimes is unknown unless someone breaks a bone from an accident which then the illness can be found. When this usually happens the illness has already causes problems to the bones which can be very serious. Another cause of Osteoporosis is a lack of hormones in men and women which is called estrogen – women and androgen – men.
Some other things that can cause Osteoporosis are women and men who have small, thin bodies, other family members who already have Osteoporosis, thyroid problems, low muscle mass, bone cancer, certain medications, lack of calcium, smoking, heavy drinking – alcohol, losing weight very fast – this can cause rapid muscle and bone loss, eating disorders, not exercising, and other similar problems.

The next topic I will discuss about Osteoporosis is the symptoms. Some symptoms of Osteoporosis are pains in your bones and muscles – usually lower back or neck area, sharp, tingly pains are also a major symptom. Having severe pains in your bones and muscles that limit your everyday functions are also a common symptom of this disease. When Osteoporosis gets worse for about three months or so, the body tends to not recognize broken bones, such as the spine, hips and wrists. These symptoms are just a few that can be caused by Osteoporosis; if you have any of these symptoms or are unsure please see a doctor right away.

The next topic I will discuss about Osteoporosis is how to prevent this illness. The quicker you start taking care of your bones the better of you will be as you get older. Some steps to take to prevent Osteoporosis are having a great exercise routine like walking, running, working-out, biking, having a healthy diet and other similar activities. Eating right produces a healthy body, some foods are fruits and vegetables, nuts and oats, calcium rich foods with vitamin D, soy based foods, and other similar foods. You are never too young to start having a healthy lifestyle that will help keep your bones healthy and strong.

Osteoporosis is a disease that can harm women and some men. No matter how old you are, what sex you are, or who you are everyone loses and regains there bone mass. So before this illness gets too bad you should see a doctor very fast. I hope the steps in this article has giving you a better insight on Osteoporosis and helps you to better cope with this terrible illness.
