If you are going to be in Orlando, Florida, during the holiday season then you are in for a treat. With all of the theme parks in the area, you will have more than enough to choose from when it comes to holiday light displays. If you do not know where to start, here are the best holiday light displays in the Orlando, Florida, area.
The Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights display actually started in Oklahoma at the Osborne home 18 years ago. But by 1995, the display had no longer there and had relocated to sunny Orlando. That was the first year that it was as Walt Disney World Resort and it made its first appearance at Disney-MGM Studios. And it has been a holiday staple ever since then. If you have never been to Walt Disney World to see the Osborne Family Spectacle of lights then you are truly missing out on something absolutely wonderful. You can see it during the holiday season, with the 2007 holiday dates lasting from November
12 through January 6, 2008. You will have to pay for the theme park admission in order to view the holiday lights, but I think you will find it well worth it. Disney usually has extended hours during the holiday season. You can check their Web site for the latest info on dates and even buy your tickets online in advance. The Walt Disney World Resort is located in Lake Buena Vista, Florida right off of Interstate 4 past the International Drive exit. Just follow the signs and you can’t miss it. For a sampling of what you are in for, check out some past photos of the Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights at WDWMaginc.com.
Holiday Lights Orlando marks a new holiday tradition in downtown Orlando. It takes place on December 5th, 2007 from 5:15 pm to 7pm at City Hall Plaza, which is at 400 S. Orange Ave. in Orlando. You will get to see the annual Christmas tree lighting as well as over 35,000 other holiday lights being lit up in the plaza. There will also be musical entertainment and other festivities.
If you would rather visit a more residential area to soak up some holiday lights then you will want to check out the holiday light displays of the neighborhood houses in Celebration, Florida which is right next door to Walt Disney World practically. Between the hours of 7pm and 9pm are when it gets the busiest on these streets, and they are especially congested during the month of December. To avoid some of the crowd try to come during the middle of the week. The light go up the first week of December and don’t come down until we are into January. You can take a drive through these neighborhoods or park on one of the other streets and walk about to get a good look at all of the lights.
