All but one of the eleven declared Republican Presidential Candidates has at least a statement outlining his position on Immigration and Border Security. Some go a bit further and go more in depth into specific actions they would take if they were elected President. They do agree on the basic ideals, but each does have a different solution. Immigration and Border Security is one issue that is not going to go away and not an easy one to solve. It will require a lot of time and energy since it affects every part of the country and thousands of immigrants. Check out the policies of all the Presidential Candidates. This is one issue that can be a very important deciding point.
Senator Samuel D. “Sam” Brownback of Kansas
Senator Brownback talks very extensively about Immigration and Border Security http://www.brownback.com/s/Issues/tabid/60/Default.aspx#Immigration on his Republican Presidential Candidates web site. He states,”One of the primary jobs of the United States government is to ensure the safety of the American people. In order to do so, we must secure our borders.” http://www.brownback.com
Former Governor James S. “Jim” Gilmore III of Virginia
Governor Gilmore does not believe in amnesty for illegal aliens. He believes in securing our borders first and then dealing with the situation of those already in the county. He does not state how he would accomplish his goals His Republican Presidential Candidates web site has this statement:” Jim Gilmore is, as are most Americans, a descendent of immigrants who came to this country legally to seek the American dream. And, he believes that dream should remain attainable for those who obey the law. However, there should be no amnesty for those who are in our country illegally. As a forceful advocate for homeland security, Jim Gilmore knows that we must secure America’s borders to protect our country. We will not be able to deal successfully with those who are in our country illegally until we have secured our borders and stopped the entrance of additional illegals. We must re-examine our existing immigration laws and develop a better program for temporary workers as well as requiring employers to verify workers are here legally.”
Former Mayor Rudolph W.L. “Rudy” Giuliani III of New York
Mayor Giuliani does not have an Immigration and Border Security plan on his Republican Presidential Candidates web site. He does have this statement in his 12 Commitments to the American People “I will end illegal immigration, secure our borders, and identify every non-citizen in our nation.”
Former Governor Michael D. “Mike” Huckabee of Arkansas
Governor Huckabee does not have a proposal for Immigration and Border Security on his Republican Presidential Candidates web site.
Congressman Duncan L. Hunter of California
Congressman Hunter has an extensive discussion on Immigration and Border Security http://www.gohunter08.com/inner.asp?z=19 on his Republican Presidential Candidates web site. In part he says, “I believe in providing Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement corps with sufficient strength to secure our borders and providing for interior enforcement throughout the country because it is imperative in our fight to protect Americans. To not do so can only be characterized as irresponsible.”
Senator John S. McCain III of Arizona

The framework agreement ensures that we will immediately put in place the infrastructure to secure our borders and implement a functioning employment verification system.
Secure our borders No Amnesty For Illegal Immigrants. Only after specific enforcement and security triggers are met will the temporary guest worker provisions and the legalization program for the undocumented included in the bill take effect.
A Better, Stronger Citizenry. The framework announced would reform our immigration system to ensure all future efforts to attract immigrants are directed towards those who have the job skills, education, and English language proficiency that will make them productive Americans.”
Congressman Ronald E. “Ron” Paul of Texas

Former Governor W. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts

The current system, however, puts up a concrete wall to the best and brightest, yet those without skill or education are able to walk across the border. We must reform the current immigration laws so we can secure our borders, implement a mandatory biometrically enabled, tamper proof documentation and employment verification system, and increase legal immigration into America.”
Congressman Thomas G. “Tom” Tancredo of Colorado
Congressman Tancredo has this statement on his Republican Presidential Candidates web site regarding Immigration and Border Security. “Illegal aliens threaten our economy and undermine our culture. While our brave soldiers risk their lives to protect us overseas, our political elites lack the courage to defend us at home. I am 100% opposed to amnesty. As President, I will secure our borders so illegal aliens do not come, and I will eliminate benefits and job prospects so they do not stay.”

Former Governor Tommy G. Thompson of Wisconsin
Governor Thompson has the following statement on his Republican Presidential Candidates web site regarding Immigration and Border Security. “Governor Thompson opposes amnesty and believes that America must enforce its immigration policies to the fullest extent of the law. People who are found to be in the country illegally should be returned to their home countries and should have to wait at the end of the line, behind people who are seeking to enter the country or become citizens legally.”
