About two months ago, I wrote a piece about Chesley Sullenberger, the US Airways pilot who crash landed a plane into the Hudson River. I thought it would be funny to adopt a hyper liberal take, bitching about how Sulley killed a bunch of geese and how he in fact, is not a hero, but a cold blooded goose killer. I wrote it for the same reason I write everything…to make people laugh.
Yesterday, I came back from a meeting and noticed I had about 20 new emails alerting me that I had a comment on Associated Content. I thought someone may have chosen to read every single article I had written and commented. In fact, everyone had read one article I had written and had commented.
It seems some chucklehead thought I was serious and posted it somewhere. Most of the comments were from outsiders complaining about how I was a socialist or a goose lover and how I had no grasp of how a plane worked. They spouted all sorts of stuff supporting Rush Limbaugh and attacking how I referred to the people standing to be rescued on the plane’s right wing…as right wingers.
I’m so glad they cleared all that up.
I deleted most of the comments, because they were downright nasty, and chalked the whole thing up to misunderstanding.
Oh yeah, and I even spelled the dude’s name wrong. It’s “Chesley”, but I called him “Chelsey”. That might save me from a slander suit someday.
Then today, I logged into AC and noticed my balance was over $5! Woot! Must be AC finally ponied up that money they owed me for the for the call I claimed to film my trip to see my alma mater play in the International Bowl. Nope. Never got paid for that one. They also deleted my article which as far as I know, was the only AC article which ever contained a YouTube video of Billy Mays.
* sigh *
So, today I checked out my page views. There’s the two articles I wrote when I first joined, I suppose AC puts them in a place where they enjoy a high profile. Those still sit at a whopping 740 and 577 page views. All my other stuff usually ranges from the 50 views to the one I farcically titled Naked Mud Wrestling. Got 400 page views on that one. I learned everything I know from Morag and Stoneskin.
But my article on Chesley Sullenberger? 1,700 page views! Most of which came today and yesterday!
Eat your heart out, Timothy Sexton!
I’d like to know who posted this…and where!
Next round’s on me, guys! I guess I need write stuff that will piss off the uber-conservatives more often!
