Many RV dealers are getting into the rental business, not everyone is looking to own a rolling condominium. There are a variety of reasons some people choose to rent rather then own. To meet that demand there are some interesting options available. U-Haul attempted to get into the market years back, but with tiny little economy trailers, lack of acceptance by the public doomed the plan in short order.
TOO EXPENSIVE: Your income level is good, but not what it takes to own one of today’s Class A Motorhomes. With a purchase price well above of $100,000, it’s just not in the cards to purchase your own private coach. What better way to still enjoy an occasional special outing then to rent a unit for a long weekend. That occasion where the comfort of a motorhome will make the trip that much more enjoyable. In the case of someone with disabilities, or special requirements, a motorhome can make a difference. No one wants to be left behind, just because they have a health issue.
NOT ENOUGH VACATION: With only a couple weeks off a year, who wants to make payments for the remaining 11 months that your expensive rig sits in the driveway. Maybe weekends aren’t available to you, that one trip a year is the only time a coach would be used. Doesn’t make sense to invest all that money to have it sitting and depreciating most of the time. Even if a two week rental is more expensive then a months payment, you’re still way ahead in the long run.
PARKING RESTRICTIONS: Living in a gated community you have restrictions on what you can leave sitting around. It’s not uncommon for some small subdivision to have neighborhood requirements and restrictions noted on the deeds of the lots they sell. If your cul de sac has million dollar homes, you can bet the people next to you don’t want to look out their living room window to be eye to eye with the side of your recreational vehicle.
WHICH IS RIGHT FOR YOU: Your in the market, but just not sure which rig is best for you. Class A, Class C, Travel Trailer, renting one for the weekend will give you a much better idea as to which one will fill your needs. Nothing could be worse then buying a Class B, thinking that maneuverability was the most important issue. Only to find you can’t tolerated the close quarters when your not driving.
RIGHT RIG FOR THE OCCASION: Weekend camping has been your favorite activity for years, the small travel trailer you own lets you get into all the rustic sites. But this trip is the big one, all the way across the country. Saving for a number of years, you want this trip to be special. Renting a motorhome will put the cherry on top for you. Comfort and convenience for this one big trip.
ONE WAY TRIP: Not nearly as popular, as most dealers want to see their inventory return to its original location. But not to worry, there is a nation wide company that specializes in just this type of rental situation. Cruise America is in the business of renting Class C motorhomes. Yes they do short term rentals, but they offer one thing that most don’t. You can rent a motorhome in one state, and return it in another. Their web site, www.cruiseamerica.com will give you all the information you need to plan your next cross country trip. When you move from California to Florida for a new job, wouldn’t it be nice to make a big vacation out of the trip. The alternative is to sandwich everyone into the family sedan and make it a very fast and very uncomfortable trip.
There’s many reason’s to rent an RV, the best one is to make memories. When ever people get together for a road trip, good memories are made.
