Niagara Falls is one of the most vital sites seeing spot of our country. We had been there recently before around two weeks. We stayed there for three days and viewed the beauty of Niagara Falls from all the corners and directions. Niagara Falls looks different from all the directions and each time we see the fall, we fill that a new dimension has been added to its beauty. We made it a point this time to view the beauty of Niagara Falls from Canadian side also as I had never seen the fall from Canadian side earlier in my life. As soon as I saw the fall from Canadian side, an entire new dimension got added to the Niagara Falls view and I have been telling and recommending all my friends and relatives to view the fall from Canadian side. The total width of the falls here is around 3000 feet and height is 175 feet.
The most important aspect to visit Niagara Falls from Canadian side is to fulfill legal conditions to enter Canada. You must be an American citizen having your American passport with you to present it at the immigration desk. The other alternative that has been opened recently is that American residents (valid green card holders) are also allowed to enter Canada on showing their valid green card along with their valid passport issued at their home country. All the people having visitors visa for the USA are not allowed to enter Canada like they were allowed in the past. They are required to obtain the visa for Canada earlier to their visit. The security measures have been tightened after latest terrorist threats. This is the guideline as on July 8 and it is suggested to check the latest rules and regulations for the entry to Canada just prior to your visit.
Once you are eligible to enter Canada, pass through the immigration desk. The attending officer shall verify your passport and the green card and you are issued temporary short-term visa for seeing Niagara Falls. It is advisable to take your car with you to avoid long walks on the Canadian side to approach most beautiful spots for viewing the falls. However, it may be noted that your car insurance may not be valid in Canada. Please clarify this point with your insurance company earlier. You can drive through the Rainbow Bridge inside Canada. You will immediately notice the high revolving hotel building of Ontario Towers. It is really a good idea to visit this hotel. The view of the fall is just fantastic from the top of this revolving hotel. However, the rates of food items are quite expensive in this hotel. Just continue driving straight ahead and you will reach the starting point of “The maid of the mist” ride of Canadian side. The ride pattern is exactly the same as of the USA side and it may not be necessary to take this ride again here. But you must take one most important ride of going to back of the falls while in Canada. You are taken to the back of the falling water of the fall and that experience is really terrific. The rates are 12 Canadian dollars per adult for this ride. You may get down at the Horseshoe point to get a very close view of the entire fall. The horseshoe shape is fully and clearly visible from this point. The width of the fall is much higher on Canadian side as compared with American side but the height is almost same as 175 feet. The night fireworks done on American side can be seen in a much better way. The illumination is also done on Canadian side everyday from 9pm to midnight during the summer season.
You must keep sufficient time margin while entering Canada, as there can be some delays due to traffic and immigration formalities on the Rainbow Bridge. The similar delay can also be expected while returning. There is also a pedestrian walkway to enter Canada but if you happen to cross through it even by mistake, make sure that you have your proper travel documents with you. Otherwise, your returning back to the USA side can be a real problem. In short, it was really the most memorable experience of our life to have a view of the Niagara Falls from Canadian side and I strongly recommend to all my AC friends to visit Canadian side of the falls during their next visit to this great fall.
The efforts and hassle to enter Canada is worth due to the wonderful view of the fall you get from this side.
