Four years ago my husband talked me into a game of golf, and by the end of the day I was hooked. Soon it was time to buy my own starter set of ladies golf clubs. I purchased an inexpensive set of Ram clubs, with steel shafts. The entire set, including bag, only cost me $150.00. I knew these were low end clubs, but I didn’t want to invest a lot of money until I had decided I was going to take the sport seriously.
The set was adequate for me, but soon I wanted a better driver, and spent $300 on a Ladies Ping Rhapsody Driver. I thought I was in golf heaven.
I have significantly improved my golf game since that time, and my husband decided it was time to get me a better set, one more suited to my game. Our local Sports Authority had an amazing sale on Tommy Armour golf clubs, and the ladies Royal Scot set was on sale from $599 to $299, half price! We spent about 20 minutes with the very knowledgeable salesman, who convinced me these were the best quality for the price. We bought the set and I played with the clubs that weekend.
As of today, I have now golfed about 10 times with my Tommy Armour Ladies Royal Scot golf clubs, and I have to tell you, I simply love them!
The Set Includes:
* Oversized 460cc Forged Titanium Driver
* Irons 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, Pitching Wedge and Sand Wedge
* #3 and #4 Hybrid Irons
* #3 and #5 Fairway Woods
* Carrying Case
All I can say is wow! For the price, these are amazing ladies golf clubs! I now have my Ping Rhapsody up for sale at Craigs List, because I love my Tommy Armour Royal Scot Driver! All of the clubs have graphite shafts, which are lighter than steel shafts, and give me a faster swing.
The club heads are made of stainless steel, so they not only assure me of durability, they allow me to get maximum distance from my hits. Since I started using my Tommy Armour Royal Scot Driver, my drives feel better, I am hitting the sweet spot swing after swing (there is an arrow on top of the head to help me hit the sweet spot), and my drives are consistently about 20 feet farther than before.
My husband and I just participated in a tournament, and I won both the ladies longest drive and closest to the pin! These are amazing ladies clubs, and I love that they are just slightly shorter than my older clubs, which is good for me because I am only 5′ 1″ tall, and need ladies petite clubs, but they are nearly impossible to find.
The fairway wwork great for long fairway shots, and the shorter hybrid irons work good for balls landing up hill. The only club I don’t care for is the putter – I have much better luck with my starter set “Ram” putter.
Each of the clubs is a beautiful royal blue color, and the driver, fairway woods, hybrid irons and the putter all come with nice covers, and I use these all the time now. I took them off for my first day of golf, and my driver was actually chipped halfway through my game! They do chip easily, so I maintain them by keeping the covers on so the clubs don’t bang against each other, especially when they are in the trunk of our car.
The set comes in a lightweight blue bag, which has multiple dividers which go the full length of the bag. My old Ram golf bag was cheap and didn’t have dividers that went deep into the bag and it was difficult to get the clubs out. The Tommy Armour golf bag also has a multitude of zippered pockets, as well as “O rings” to hang a golf towel, club cleaner, or other tools.
My Tommy Armour Royal Scott Ladies Golf Clubs have been a pleasant surprise! Sometimes when something is so inexpensive you wonder about the quality, but these are truly quality golf clubs. They give me a good feel for the ball, are very forgiving on off shots, and the driver is simply amazing. I am in a womens golf league on Tuesday evenings, and the wife of the golf course we play was amazed by how far I was driving my ball, I easily out drove the other gals, and she asked if she could use it and give it a try. Her ball went farther than usual! She was impressed, and they SELL golf clubs!
All in all, this is an amazing set of women’s golf clubs, and I gladly rate them a 4 out of 5 stars. My dislike for the putter forces me deduct one star from my rating.
