It’s back to school time, and that means back to college as well! If you are thinking about getting a job to make some extra cash while taking classes at the same time, you should hold on a second and read this article. Below I am going to talk about 5 ways that college students can use to make a bit of cash, maybe even more than they would as fast food workers.
– Selling all kinds of snacks
If you live in the dorm rooms at school, this will be easy. Head on over to Sams Club or to CostCo one weekend and get a big box of hot cheetos or whatever college students like most. Once you get home, make sure to call all of your friends and let them know that you’ll be selling each baggy for 20 or 25 cents more than they usually sell it, but that you’re doing it to raise money for something or things that you need. All of your friends will surely buy snacks, and then you’ll get enough money to buy another box, maybe of different sorts of snacks and viola, you’re making money! Once your friends know, you can make sure that other people will know too, as the word on that sort of stuff passes on quickly.
– Typing papers
If you type over 50 words per minute and you think you can handle typing a couple of papers a day, then this is something you should do. Print up some fliers offering your service, chose how you will charge your customers, then start typing up papers for all kinds of people. You can rest assured that students will pay for the service you’re offering, as some of them don’t have the ability to type fast, and some just don’t have the time to sit and type up their papers.
– Making MySpace layouts
Are you good with HTML or CSS? Well if you are then you can start customizing or creating new layouts for all of the students in your college in no time; this is an awesome way to make money, and it works! Let your friends know you will charge them a dollar or two to do whatever they want you to do to their MySpace profile page and you’ll see the money start to roll in. This business is the kind that will for sure bring repeat business as most MySpace users change their profiles look and feel at least twice a month. If you’re not good with HTML or CSS you can also use a profile editor or learn some skills along the way. Remember that using Google to ask how to do something is very easy and you’ll surely find an answer to what you’re looking for that way.
If you are really good at a certain subject in college then you can start to tutor! Let your friends know that if they need help they can come to you and to let all of their friends know if possible. What you can do is charge by the hour; this is perfect and works really well. Make sure to offer your customer referral discounts; lets say that they bring you someone else that actually uses your services, let them have 20% off the next time they need help. Doing this will help to get you more business and in the long run this could turn into something big.
– Writing a blog/Having a website
This is something that’s getting easier to make money from. If you’re good with the internet, form a blog or a small website and start writing about whatever you like most. Then pass on your website address to all kinds of people and wait for traffic. In order to make money from this, join an affiliate network and affiliate yourself to a couple of companies. Once you do this, place banners and text links all over your website and wait for people to click on those to make yourself some cash. You can also sign up for Google Adsense, add a Google search box to your site and that’ll make some cash for sure.
