by wet bin

Summer is here and that means one thing, block buster summer movies. Though there are several sequels being released in 2009 that are sure to be a hit, there are a couple fresh movies sure to catch your attention. Here are those five 2009 summer movies that are sure to leave you wanting more.

Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince

This will be the sixth movie in the most dominating movie franchise of the last ten years. Harry Potter fans will get the chance to see the young wizard, along with his two friends, Hermione and Ron, face new challenges as Lord Voldemort returns and sets his aim on Harry. Whether you have seen the earlier Harry Potter movies or not, you will find yourself lost in a simple amazing world that was created by J.K. Rowling. Young or old, you will find yourself entrance by this block bluster summer movie of 2009.

The Hangover

One of the lesser known movies before it was released in June 2009, the Hangover captured the movie audience by storm. This summer movie follows three groomsmen, who have no memory when they wake up the morning after a bachelor party. More importantly they can not find the groom. Viewers spend the next 99 minutes watching the three men trying to retrace their steps. This movie is full of one liners and outrageous scenes that will be sure to have you laughing out loud. When no one expected this movie to deliver, it did so and more.

Transformers 2 – Revenge of the Fallen

Bumbleee, Optimus Prime, and Megatron, will take center stage when this summer movie is released in June of 2009. Sam Witwicky and the Autobots will work together once more to discover the origins of the Transformer presence on Earth and protect it from an ancient threat. Though there was some public outcry from about Michael Bay’s use of beautiful women and the twin jive talking cars, this movie still delivers when it comes to the battles between the Autobots and Decepticons. Agent Simmons, played by John Turturro, shines above the rest when it comes to his acting ability. Fans of the first movie will come back for more and find themselves more than pleased with the high energy action scenes.

2012

This summer movie starring John Cusack, Danny Glover, and Amanda Peet will try to survive the end of the world. The movie is based on the premise that on the date, December 21, 2012, the planet will cease to exist when global events cause total destruction. Though John Cusack has never earned big success when it has come to summer movies, like Con-Air, in the trailers he seems to be a perfect fit for the movie. If you were a fan of Roland Emmerich’s earlier movie, The Day After Tomorrow, you will be sure to enjoy 2012.

X-Men Origins – Wolverine

This movie follows the background of one of the most intriguing X-Men, Wolverine as it takes us back seventeen years before the time in the first X-Men movie. We see the discovery of Wolverine’s power along with his involvement in the government funded, Weapon X program.

When this summer movie was released in May 2008, no one was sure what to expect after it an official copy was leaked across the internet. It did not disappoint and has already spawned a potential off-shoot with talks of a Deadpool movie. X-Men Origins – Wolverine was the perfect way for the summer movies of 2009 to kick off.
