When you are using a shared computer, your colleague may delete your file unexpectedly. Sometimes, you also need to keep your document files confidential from everybody.
If that happens to you, here are two useful software you may want to use:
1. File Anti Copy:
If you want to set up a shield to protect your files, I recommend you to use File Anti Copy. It is a software to prevent your files from being copied, opened or deleted. With only about 800 KB of your system resource, File Anti Copy has three useful features:
1. Anti-copy: when this is activated, nobody can copy your files. Whether they use right click or Ctrl + C, the system will not allow them to paste.
2. Anti-open: this prevents your files from activating or running. Therefore, nobody can view your text or your pictures. When attempting to apply the protected files, you can see the system warns, “Another program is currently using this file” or “The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process”.
3. Anti-delete: protects your file from being deleted.
In the first time you activate File Anti Copy, you have to set up the username and password of your administrator account. The default name is “administrator”. You should click account and fill in “username”, “password” and “confirm password”. Please also remember to write down your username and password somewhere because there is no way you can recover it. Then, click “Add” and locate the file you want to protect. Click “OK”. Change the status section to “active”.
You also need your username and password to uninstall this program. The pro version of this File Anti Copy costs about $25. It is compatible with all versions of Windows. You can click here to purchase or download the trial version.
Simply add any files you want to lock into File Anti Copy. Without your password, nobody can copy, delete or view your file. Therefore, you can be sure that you will never lose your date. Moreover, nobody can copy your work before it is published on AC.
2. Free Hide Folder:
In order to hide a folder from Windows, you can go to “Folder Options” and choose “Hide” properties for the folder. However, this method is not very safety because any other user can also unhide the folder. If you possess many personal files, you may want to use “Free Hide Folder”. You can download this freeware from here. It costs only about 750 KB of your system resource.
After installing and activating “Free Hide Folder”, you will see a window for setting up new password. Fill up “New Password” and “Confirm Password” section with a memorable secret code (your password will be used hide or unhide a folder). The main window of “Free Hide Folder” will appear after you install your password. You only have to locate the file you want to hide and click “Add”. “Free Hide Folder” will conceal the file without any trace. In order to view the file again, you have to type in your password and click “OK”. A list of hidden folder will appear. You only have to double-click the file to unhide it.
You can also change your password by click “Password” in the main window. Then, type in your password at “Password” section and fill in “New Password” and “Confirm Password”. Click “OK” to finish.
These two software do not cost you any penny. However, they deliver great features to help you keep your confidential information safe and secure.
