I feel compelled to find out more about vegetarianism, as well as, veganism on a variety of wavelengths. As a vegetarian, I strongly believe that one can’t ever know enough about the lifestyle, as well as, reasons for pursuing the lifestyle in general. I have several reasons for being a vegetarian and choosing that route, however; my main reason is that I strongly believe that it would be extremely selfish of me to contribute to killing of an animal, for the sole purpose of eating it later.
Animals have feelings and despite the fact that they don’t take on responsibilities like we do, doesn’t mean they don’t feel anything, let alone pain. It’s a proven fact that they do. One day I decided to do a google search on vegetarian and vegan recipes and “Vegan.org” mysteriously popped up as one of the results.
Vegan.org is the official website of “Vegan Action” which is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping animals, people, and the environment through awareness and education. The website’s overall content is great. The premise is outstandingly ethical on quite a few levels. Vegan.org has several areas of interest and a variety of sections that cater to vegetarian and vegan knowledge. They have a section that displays “About Veganism” which summarizes and defines veganism. They have a section that displays “Going Vegan” which provides tips to individuals who are interested in becoming a vegan.
Although the “FAQ” page is similar, it is very different, as it provides general facts about veganism and the website, as well as, the organization behind the website. The website possesses a great display of “Resources” which provides individual resources about veganism, as well as, organizations and supporters of the vegan lifestyle. They have a section that displays “About Us” which discusses their origin and history, as well as who they are.
They have a section that displays “Campaigns” which demonstrates a variety of campaigns used to spread awareness. The website also has a section titled “News” which shares news about veganism from around the world, as well as, news about the website in general. The “Support Us” is displayed for individuals to support veganism in general, as well as, the website. The website also offers a store, so individuals can buy merchandise.
I highly recommend this website to individuals who are interested in knowing more about activism and human rights, as well as, individuals who are thinking about becoming a vegetarian or vegan. This website is also for vegetarians, vegans, and individuals who have loved ones, who are a part of the vegetarian and vegan community.
I do not think that individuals who are generally not vegetarians nor vegans would find Vegan.org useful, let alone interesting. I also believe that individuals against vegetarianism or veganism and strongly believe it’s unethical, would find this website disgraceful.
I think this website possesses a lot of universalism and even though the individuals who are members of “Vegan Action” are radical about their views on animal rights, they don’t put down individuals who aren’t vegetarian or vegan. Overall, I was impressed and I would visit the website again.
