Modern day Church leaders have a missed the message that Christ came to bring. They have reduced his message into one of hatred and greed. Loving God or your fellow man has been replaced by a vending machine concept and a brand new BMW. The purpose is to deceive the common man while lining their pockets with your money.
The current day deceptions are:
1. Homosexuals go to hell…If man was GOD then perhaps that might fly, but as has been noted in the same Bible that they quote from, “Man looks on the Outside, but God looks on the heart.” Tammy Faye Messner took a hit from the church for her husband’s adultery and fraud, but Tammy Faye found acceptance from homosexuals. A group that she least expected, but who helped her move on with her life.
2. Prosperity Message…If you are a hard worker and can make money, then by all means go for it. The problem is that the prosperity message makes God into a vending machine whose only purpose is to make sure you are spoiled rotten without having to lift a finger. Most of the time the people that are preaching this message manipulate people out of their money, property, and other things of value. There have services where people have been told to put their button in the offering if they did not have money, so God could bless that. They forget to quote chapter and verse on that piece of seedtime and harvest idea. It is greed and nothing less. It is lust of the eye. It is wrong.
3. Sin among the Leaders…The Catholic church has done no more than what preachers have done to women for generations. A hurting wife goes in to get help on her marriage and comes out screwing the pastor. The odd thing is that most of these men and women will never be prosecuted for their crimes. How about leaders on drugs, stealing money from the church, and being as worldly as they can be throughout the week, but act like saints on Sunday. Jim Baker, Jimmy Swaggart, Roberts Liardon, and Ted Haggard to name a few. They preached a form of gospel, but failed to let that gospel change them. No, maybe the form that they were preaching did change them. It eliminated their conscience so that they had no problem with paying prostitutes or stealing money.
4. Fraud…If you got a buck then I am sure God will heal you. Well…Maybe it will be more than a buck. You see you have to tithe or God will curse you, and then you have to give into every offering. If you really believe in God you should tithe on the money you want to make and not what you make now. Sure, stay in debt, and have your kids always in the church outreach line for food and clothes since you gave all your money to us. That is the snake oil that far too many preachers are selling today. They have no qualms about your needs not being met as long as they get a paycheck. Maybe you need to be sent a communion cup or some oil from Israel so you can feel like you are a part of the ministry. Well, if you will send some money then we will pray for you and send you out this useless stuff.
5.Casting out the needy…It has become a trend where some churches will not help their own parishoners, but they will feed the kid in Africa. You know, the one you will never meet. The kid that is starving to death, but somehow never is eliminated from the list to send money to. Even if you pay your tithes and offerings, you are in no position to receive help from your own church. In this case, “Foreigners need only to apply.” Some churches even preach that people who are poor are cursed.
It is sad the state of affairs that Christianity has found itself in. It seems to be in direct opposition to the commands that Jesus Christ set forth. They were simple too. Love God and love man. Instead, too many have become lovers of fame, power, and money. They only do what gets publicized by their hired hands.
The problem is that the Church has only itself to blame. The superstar preacher is prevelant today because of the lack of leadership before. People set God aside to make a name for themselves using God as the back drop. There are five figure speaker fees, five star hotels, limos, and book tours that have taken the place of love of God and man.
Aside from the obvious arrogance of far too many of todays leaders, there is the distortion of God and His relationship to man. Maybe that is why Paul admonished the churches to study the Bible, so that no man can deceive you. The deceivers are hoping you know nothing, so they can fill you with their distortions.
