I had to get a prescription re-filled the other day and was told I had to wait for about 15 minutes. As is my nature I began walking around the Walgreen’s store looking hither and yon for something to help while away the time.
For me, food is a main attraction, so, it didn’t take long for me to gravitate to the food aisle. I went up and down the aisle and didn’t find anything that sounded good and I could still afford. (Remember, I was buying medicine).
Just as I was about to wander back to the pharmacy, I remembered that the last aisle had cookies displayed. I feel abbot cookies the same way that Homer Simpson feels about doughnuts: “Aaaaah; cookies”.
As I was trying to decide what cookies I wanted to buy I heard a little voice from behind me saying “Buy me; buy me”. I turned and there was a freezer. Inside there was row after row of small pint-sized ice cream containers. “Aaaaah; ice cream”
I went over to the ice cream case and found that there were probably thirty types of “Walgreen Brand Ice Cream” containers. Further, each pint was only 99 cents! It was time to start buying.
I have always been a vanilla lover, so, I bought their “Old-Fashioned Vanilla” flavor. Also, I bought “Chocolate Fudge”. Finally, I bought a pint of “Strawberry Cheesecake”
It seemed like it took forever for that 15 minutes to get over with but soon I was at home with ice cream in tow.
I decide to work in reverse of what I thought my favorites would be, so, I started with Chocolate Fudge. It was just like I figured it would be. It was thick and rich and it was a very deep chocolate.
I wasn’t prepared for the next flavor. The Strawberry Cheesecake tasted like, well, Strawberry Cheesecake! How an ice cream can taste like a cheesecake is beyond me, but, it did, and, it was outstanding.
I have saved the best for last. The Old-Fashioned Vanilla will stand up to any vanilla ice cream no matter what the brand; what the cost, or what the nature of the vanilla; plain or old-fashioned. I just wasn’t expecting such wonderful flavor from such an inexpensive ice cream. It was outstanding.
For about three dollars, I had three different pints of ice cream. (Well, I shared a little). For that same price, I would have been lucky to get one pint of a different brand that I doubt would have tasted as good.
The next time you go to get your get prescription filled at the Walgreen Pharmacy, buy some Walgreen Ice Cream; it probably won’t take you as long to recover from whatever ails you.
