Unless you’ve been living under a rock for a lifetime, chances are you’ve heard of Walt Disney World. You probably also know that it has been made famous by its icon, Mickey Mouse. Being able to go to the Magic Kingdom might be a once in a lifetime opportunity for some and to be there in person and meet the famous characters is worth a trip set aside specifically for Disney.
Many people choose to lodge on the Disney grounds for their vacation. If this is the case, then the Disney Transport busses will take you from theme park to theme park all from the front steps of the hotel. If lodging is done off the Disney grounds, Magic Kingdom is easy to find following the signs directing traffic through Walt Disney World.
If taking the complimentary bus, you first arrive as the Transportation Center. This is where all the busses stop to let passengers off so they can continue their journey to the Magic Kingdom. Here you have two choices: you can either take the ferry or the monorail. For our trip, we chose the ferry. A quick, relaxing ride across a lake is an exciting way to get a first glimpse of this infamous attraction.
Security is of utmost importance to the crew at Disney World so be prepared to have baggage checked and a thumb print swiped. The process is quick and easy and doesn’t cause too much congestion at the park gates.
Inside a world of magic and wonders appears; streets decorated with bright and festive lights, famous characters dancing and greeting guests. Not a single detail went unnoticed in the décor of this park. From the elegantly built shops and restaurants all the way down to the Disney themed pavers lining the roads and side walks.
Gift shops galore, you’re sure to find that perfect something to take home to preserve these special memories or as a souvenir for friends. Various restaurants and snack shops can be found throughout the park but be sure to eat earlier rather than later. On certain days, the park remains open at midnight but restaurants and diners close at 9:00 p.m. so you’ll be hard pressed to find a snack afterwards.
The rides at the Magic Kingdom are fun and exciting and are available at all levels of enjoyment. There are rides geared towards young children and more thrilling rides for adults. Some provide a perfect opportunity for relaxing for a few minutes in between all of the excitement of the park. The Pirates of the Caribbean rides is a perfect example. It’s a nice slow stroll through an enclosed structure depicting the story of the Captain Jack Sparrow.
Of course, Cinderella’s Castle is a must see. In fact, it’s difficult to go anywhere in the park without seeing it! At night, the ever changing lighting effects gives the castle a constantly different look. Every few minutes the colors change on the entire face of the castle. At closing time, fireworks erupt above the castle each night.
Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is a must for every family, couple and singles. It’s a great place to spend an entire vacation as many other parks are very near as well. Located near Orlando, Florida the park is worth the cost of around $70 to $80 per person, with discounted package rates available year round.
