While recently traveling to Northwest New Jersey, my wife and I were fortunate enough to happen upon the community of nearby Warwick New York. Warwick is sort of the cultural and commercial hub of this otherwise very local area. One of the things we found while visiting Warwick was a beautiful Warwick Gardens. Warwick Gardens is an 18 acre earth friendly nursery. While our visit was just ahead of their April opening for 2009 (Warwick Gardens is open from April to October annually) I was lucky enough to learn a little bit about this place and I will certainly be back if for no other reason than to experience Warwick Gardens firsthand.
Warwick Gardens has a focus on “quirky annuals, perennials, trees and shrubs.” Warwick Gardens is also very focused on sustainability and their approach to gardening is drawn through “organic methods” which allow this sustainability to be had while having, “plenty of good clean fun.”
Warwick Gardens is more than just acres and acres of plant life; Warwick Gardens also offers services for your home garden. Warwick Gardens offers a wide array of hard-to-find varieties, native plants, and they have a knowledgeable and helpful staff who can help beginners all the way up through the most experienced gardeners get what they are looking for.
If you are like me and have no idea about what to do with plant life than Warwick Gardens can help you out with that as well. They have a small garden design and installation service where they can come to your home and help you get started. If you have had plant life in the past Warwick Gardens also offers “dead renovation” or a consultation services depending upon your needs. Warwick Gardens also offers maintenance programs, classes, and other information for people in the area.
If you are planting a garden you should be very concerned with sustainability as well. People, regardless of their political persuasion or their belief about things like global warming, climate change, and other events which people disagree about in the scientific community; should all be concerned with the fate of the planet. Being able to sustain and grow your own things is as good an idea as any. Why would you want to pay somebody else for what you can do yourself? So whether you live in the area or are just visiting you should definitely see what Warwick Gardens is all about. At Warwick Gardens they can help you get started, continue, maintain, and grow your green thumb so that we all can do our part to making the world a more livable place for generations to come.
