According to a recent press release, Wells Fargo has announced on Thursday August 2nd, that the company will donate a total of $150,000 to the American Red Cross- Twin Cities Area Chapter. The money will go to fund the Red Cross’ efforts in disaster relief and to support the medical services’ ongoing efforts in responding to the recent local emergency of the I-35W bridge collapse that occurred in Minneapolis on Wednesday August 1st.
Debra Paterson, regional president for the Metro Minnesota region, said, “The thoughts and prayers of the entire Wells Fargo family – in the Twin Cities and across the country – are with the families of the victims of this incident and everyone touched in some way…as always, our Red Cross organization and its volunteers provide excellent assistance to those impacted by local disasters. We truly appreciate their efforts.”
Wells Fargo is also actively encouraging the company’s team members and other people in the Twin Cities region to donate blood in response the the Minneapolis bridge collapse tragedy. Currently, blood donations are being taken at Memorial Blood Center in the St. Paul and Minneapolis region. “I plan on donating blood and helping out with the tragedy efforts,” said Woodbury, Min resident Corey Mason. “I’m encouraging my friends and family to donate too. This tragedy didn’t only affect the people it happened to, it affects the entire community because people really need to help out to clean up and make sure more people are in good health and survive the bridge collapse.”
Another Minnesota resident, Rebecca Tailor, said, “The donation from Wells Fargo went to a great cause, especially since the tragedy happened just yesterday. Efforts to save more people is a great cause and people all over the country are realizing that. A lot of local places are also adding to the efforts.”
