How many times have you felt like everything seems to be going wrong and that it is out of your control? It is easy to get the attitude that everything that happens is because of outside circumstances or situations. While there are many situations that are outside of our control, it is the way that we view them and deal with them that is the key.
The world that we live in is a reflection of the attitude that we carry around with us. If we have a doom and gloom attitude, then that is how we tend to view the things around us. If you expect the worst to happen, then you shouldn’t be surprised when you get exactly what you think.
There are many reasons why we might have gotten a sour mood or attitude about things. Sometimes a series of bad situations can push us that way. Other times a negative attitude can be a defense mechanism for us. It is easy to use a negative attitude as a protection barrier. If something doesn’t work the way that we want, we didn’t really expect it to work in the first place.
Every time you say or think something that’s negative, you are reinforcing the negative programming that builds up in your mind. The subconscious mind is like a large recorder that keeps track of all that we say and experience and it works to see that we get what we program into it. If we have a negative outlook within our subconscious mind, this wave of energy has an impact on everything that we consciously do.
How do you handle the situation when someone is less than pleasant to you? Do you turn cold and negative and get pulled down to their level or do you maintain a positive attitude? If you get pulled down, then you have just allowed one person to change the quality of your life. Everyday is valuable and we cannot afford to give up one moment for negative energy.
The best thing that you can do to improve your attitude is to not feed the thoughts that are not productive in your life. If something is less than ideal and you want to have a better situation, address the situation in a positive way. Whatever your automatic response to something normally would be, try doing the opposite. If you are about to say something negative, say something positive. You might not be convinced completely at first, but say it anyway.
Rather then think of all of the things that will not work, spend time thinking about positive solutions. When you concentrate on why things are not possible, your mind will start to see how impossible everything is. When you adjust yourself to seeking positive outcomes, you will start seeing solutions that you had never considered before.
Once your mind is saturated with negative and hopeless thoughts, it is a short path to becoming stuck in a rut of negativity. Your subconscious mind works with you twenty-four hours per day. When your subconscious is programmed with negative thoughts, it pushes out this message to you while you are awake as well as when you are sleeping. The same also applies when you are a positive person. The subconscious reinforces you with whatever programming you have given it.
If you are carrying around a negative attitude or feelings, it will have an impact on the life that you experience. Regardless how much you think that you are hiding how you feel, the feelings will find a way of revealing to the outside world. If you find that you have trouble making friends, have you consider what mood you are sending out to those around you. A negative person will repel potential friends. This is a case where opposites do not attract. Like things attract each other. If you are positive, you will attract positive. If you are negative, you will attract negative.
There is the old saying that misery loves company. People that are perpetually negative would rather live in misery with others than to spend time with a powerful positive output. People who are negative tend to look at successful people simply as being “lucky”.
Start looking at successful people around you and think about how many of them are negative and down. You will find that these successful people are positive and tend to look at what is possible as opposed to seeing why things aren’t possible.
If you want to see an immediate change in your life, start avoiding thoughts such as; “that will never work”, or “good things never happen to me”. Change your believes and always hope for the best. When you are around people who are negative, try to change the conversation to something positive. If your friends and associates continue, you should consider hanging out with a new crowd.
Never get involved with bad-mouthing someone else or negatively criticizing someone. Spend your efforts on something that would be beneficial for yourself or others. As you start to change your viewpoint and attitude, trust me, other people will start to notice.
Remember this simple idea about how positive energy works. Success doesn’t make happiness or a positive attitude. Having a positive attitude attracts positive situations into your life. When you start to change your attitude, you will find that things start to work differently in your life. Sometimes great things happen, other times; you just start seeing things from a new perspective.
Changing your attitude is not going to happen overnight. A negative outlook wasn’t born overnight and change takes a little time. A positive outlook is a habit that becomes stronger as you allow it to be a part of your life. Remember, not all habits are bad. A positive is contagious and will grow if you allow it to.
If everyone would start be more positive in there own lives, the potential for change is unbelievable. Not only can you change your life, you can have a great impact upon everyone that you interact with. Now go out and look for change!
