The Philadelphia Department of Public Health will provide 113,000 influenza vaccinations at their more than 200 flu shot clinics. The city is promoting their Influenza Immunization Campaign to the highest risk individuals focusing especially on the elderly. Starting October 15, 2007, Philadelphia’s Department of Public Health is offering free flu shots at City Health Centers to eligible Philadelphia residents. The Philadelphia free flu shot program begins at the city’s Federally Qualified Health Centers on November 1, 2007. Children ages 18 and younger are encouraged to receive their flu shots from their primary care doctor, and can also receive them at a Philadelphia City Health Center.

To be eligible for the free flu shot provided the Philadelphia Department of Public Health individuals must be residents of the City of Philadelphia as well as meet one of the following three criteria: over the age of 50, afflicted with a chronic medical condition, or a worker providing childcare.
Philadelphia area residents living outside of the city limits can find many flu shot clinics throughout the Pennsylvania suburbs in Bucks, Delaware, and Montgomery Counties.
Individuals 9 years of age and older will be eligible for vaccination during Bucks County’s Flu Drill on Saturday, October 27th from 10 AM to 2 PM. For information and locations, please call 215-345-3318 or use the link provided below.
October 27, 2007 from 10am until 2pm free flu shots will be available during the Bucks County Flu Drill. This is part of a practice drill during Pandemic Flu Month. The Bucks County brochure encourages those eligible to get a flu shot saying ‘you can’t predict but you can prepare.’ Four different locations will offer free flu shots to individuals age nine and older. Montgomery County Health Department offers free flu shots at more than a dozen different locations on dates ranging from now through Friday November 30, 2007. Drive thru flu shot clinics are offered in Montgomery County at two locations allowing individuals to be vaccinated while staying their cars. Fairview Village Church of Nazarene in Eagleville will host a drive thru flu shot clinic on Wednesday October 24, 2007 from 10am to 2pm. Another Montgomery County Health Department drive-thru free flu shot clinic can be found on Friday October 26, 2007 from 10am to 2pm at Hagy’s Ford Road and Hollow Cog Road in Narberth.
Major retail chains ranging from Pathmark to CVS to Sam’s Club and more, offer flu shots at their different retail locations throughout the Philadelphia area on certain dates and times. Most flu shots from pharmacy retailers costs about $25 and are given on a first come first serve basis. More information can be found on the retailers’ websites.
