Graduating from high school is a big step towards independence, it’s the time to jump for joy after slaving through all those years of school, but just where do you go now? If you are like me when I graduated, then you are a free-sprit, with no clear plan mapped out, you are the one out of all your friends who is unsure of what road to take after graduation.
It is best to further your education although many high school students score a good paying job fresh out of high school with no college degree, others obtain a job right after high school and work their way up to a better position and paying salary. Four years of college may not be for everyone and that is why there associate degrees and certificate programs exist.
Associate degrees are an alternative to achieving a bachelors or masters degree, an Associate’s degree only requires about two years of college and you determine the pace of when you graduate and achieve your Associate’s degree, the more work you do, (the more classes you take on) the faster you will be out of there, but it is important not to rush work if you do not understand it, just to graduate faster, remember you want to get good grades and maintain a good grade point average (G.P.A.) Upon achieving your Associate degree you can either look for a job or transfer to a four year college to further your education and achieve a Masters or Bachelors. It has been said that today’s Associate degree will be tomorrow’s high school diploma meaning that it is best economically to achieve the highest form of education possible. Associate degree programs may vary within each different college but some of the many Associate degree programs (careers) include;
Banking and Financial Services
Certificate programs offer training in a specific field of interest, to obtain skills to use in the workplace. Certificate programs are usually fast, and intense, and can conclude within just 6 months- 1 year. Certificate programs are best for people who don’t have the time and energy to attend school for four years, and for people who want to work, and obtain a good paying job without the many years of school. It is best to stray away from schools advertised on television such as the Salter School, schools like these are supposedly private and cost a lot of money, often times the school does not add up to the overpriced tuition. It is best to obtain an Associate degree or certificate by going to a college. Community colleges offer Associate degrees and certificates. Certificate programs vary from college to college but they can include;
Web development, best for students interested in internet communications
Computer Networking program, this program is best for students who are interested in maintaining, and creating, computer networks.
Commercial Real Estate
There are many programs.
After graduation you can construct a resumes along with some references and began scheduling interviews, and if you get the job, you should work hard so that you can work your way up to the top.
