Would you like to be incredibly thoughtful of the guys in your life? Send them flowers. Yes, flowers. Flowers are a way to express that you care about someone, and that you really want to brighten their day. Why should flowers just be for women to receive? Why do only women get all the good stuff? Personally, I think if women wish to share in all the benefits men have in other areas, shouldn’t men also get the benefits women receive? I could certainly spend hours discussing this subject, but will limit this article to the romantic and caring world of flower giving.
The next question I’m sure will be asked is whether men even want to receive flowers. Maybe they don’t even see flowers as a “benefit” that they’re missing out on. They do. Deep down, they want to be pampered sometimes and get some attention. Imagine the surprise on your husband’s face when he gets flowers from you at work. My guess is he’ll be a little embarrassed at first, and maybe even question what’s going on. He may not be used to being on the receiving end of romance, since traditionally it’s about the guy courting the woman. But this isn’t even about courting, it’s about showing someone that you care. It’s about giving someone some sunshine to their hard day. After the initial reaction and once his coworkers start getting jealous, women and men, he’ll start to realize how special the gift is…
For what occasions could you send a guy flowers? If this is your husband or boyfriend, you could send them for Valentine’s Day or for his birthday, or even for your anniversary. He would get a nice surprise if you just sent them to him one day to cheer him up if he’s feeling low. Flowers could also be used to celebrate a special occasion, such as a raise or promotion at work. If the flowers are for your father or grandfather, you could send them on father’s day, grandfather’s day, or a birthday. The same would apply for special occasions for them.
So what type of flowers do you send the guy? This is going to depend on the occasion and the guy, as well as the role he plays in your life. For instance, you don’t want to send your son a dozen red roses, as this is meant to be romantic. Picking the proper floral arrangement can be a key in the success of your flower-sending endeavor. You can choose roses, lilies, carnations, just about anything the floral shop has to offer.
Guide to Men’s Flowers
One idea is to give the men blue roses. Blue roses have become popular and are available more these days, especially on the internet. In general, the same rules are followed as when giving flowers to women. Red roses mean romance, while yellow mean friendship. Recall what would be appropriate for you to receive in a similar situation, and then send it to the guy. If you are in a romantic relationship, red roses are okay. Yellow would be great for a male friend. Peach roses are about sincerity and gratitude, while an orange rose means desire. Pink roses are about secret love, or happiness. White roses mean purity (I wouldn’t really recommend white for a guy ever.) Blue roses signify the unattainable or impossible…
Other than roses…
You could send something other than roses. Carnations could be sent on Father’s Day to a father or grandfather. An iris could be sent for complements to someone on a raise or promotion. Chrysanthemums mean fidelity. Many articles are available on the internet with guides to the meaning of different types of flowers. You could also ask the florist at a flower shop to recommend a certain flower for your particular occasion.
Alternatives to Picked Flowers
If the guy is one who really doesn’t like destroying nature by picking flowers, then get him a potted plant that can grow and continually live and show the affection you have for him. If you have a guy who is a greenthumb, send him a flower that can be planted outdoors and be cultivated by the sun and rain. There are many options. You may choose a potted plant or one to plant outside just so it doesn’t have to only last a week. Perhaps you might even send a tree that can be planted, which will grow with your relationship…. You don’t need to be limited by just a vase full of picked flowers.
What type of guy will enjoy the flowers? Any type. Even the most macho man will melt when he sees how much you care. It’s as if you are reciprocating the love that the two of you share when you send flowers to a guy. I would caution that you may wish to find out in some nonchalant way if the guy is allergic to the flowers. There could be some type of disaster if he has flowers sitting on his desk that make him sneeze and break out into hives. I caution that sometimes roses in an enclosed space over a couple of days can cause some to have allergic reactions such as itchy and/or watery eyes. If he’s allergic, you could send flowers that aren’t real, but just look it. Many florists now give this option. The added benefit is that you don’t have to cut a flower plant, and these flowers last for a long time then!
There is a chance that your guy may not like flowers. Hint around and find out without giving up your secret intent. For instance, say that a male in your office received flowers from his wife, and see if he thinks it’s cool. If he comes right out and says that he hates flowers or that he hopes noone ever does that to him, then you probably should come up with another idea. Other ideas would be balloons or candy, perhaps even a teddy bear. But, these are all along the same line and could produce the same effect. So, maybe you could send two tickets to the basketball game that weekend or baseball or football. Maybe even tickets to some cool concert. This would be far less embarassing for this type of guy, and serve his needs.
It’s really all about knowing your guy. Find out what he likes and give it to him. This article is about more than just flowers. It’s about women showing men that they care, and making the guys feel special. Men are romantic at heart as well, and will be tickled to see that you can be romantic too. If you’re sending the flowers to a father or son, this works the same way. Your father will feel that you really appreciate him and want him to feel good. There are so many positive responses that can be obtained by women sending flowers to men. I hope this can spur a whole chain reaction of romanticism and caring between partners and family members, and help relationships grow and flourish.
