by wet bin

WWE Wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife and his son were found dead on June 25th, 2007.

On Sunday Night Chris Benoit was scheduled to appear at the the WWE’s latest PPV Sacrifice. Chris Benoit was likely scheduled to win the ECW Title but was called home for an emergency. Johnny Nitro took Chris Benoit’s place and defeated CM Punk to win the ECW Title. Everyone imagined Chris Benoit would be back the following week or sometime soon but that wasn’t the case.

Atlanta police officers searched Chris Benoit’s house and found the dead bodies of Chris, his wife Nancy, and their son Daniel. So far it is unknown what was the cause of death.

Chris Benoit is one of the most beloved and one of the greatest wrestlers to ever put on a pair of wrestling boots. Benoit was one of the hardest workers and never complained when he was continuously being held back by wrestling politics. After years of putting his life into the business Chris Benoit finally reached the top of the mountain by winning the WWE World Heavyweight Title at Wrestlemania XX. After the match Chris Benoit embraced his best friend, Eddie Guerrero, and openly wept with joy. Unfortunately neither one of the two are with us any longer.

In an age where most wrestling promotions focus on storylines and unusual characters Chris Benoit was an old school throwback. He told stories in the ring with his wrestling and his passion for the business. Chris Benoit is known for being one of the best technical wrestlers of all time and had countless five star matches with the likes of Kurt Angle, Bret Hart, Steve Austin, Chris Jericho, Triple H, The Rock, Shawn Michaels and Eddie Guerrero.

Chris Benoit’s wife, Nancy, was also a member of the pro wrestling family. During the 90’s Nancy was in the WCW as a valet named Woman. Chris Benoit and Nancy were in the legendary Four Horsemen together.

Originally Monday Night Raw was scheduled for tonight and the WWE planned on having a fake dedication to Vince McMahon after Vince was killed in a storyline. When news of Benoit’s death reached the WWE they broke the news to the wrestlers and the crowd, cancelled the show and emptied the arena. Whenever WWE’s next show is, it will undoubtedly be a tribute show to honor the career of Chris Benoit.

Chris Benoit has accomplished pretty much everything there is to accomplish in pro wrestling. Chris Benoit won the Super J Cup in Japan. From there he went to ECW and won the Tag Team titles with Dean Malenko. Benoit’s stay in ECW was short before he was snatched up by WCW. In WCW Chris Benoit won the World Title, Tag Titles, United States Title and Television Title. Eventually Chris Benoit ended up in the WWE where he won the WWE World Title, held the Tag Titles on four occassions, won the Intercontinental title on four occassions and the United States title on three occassions. Chris Benoit also won the 2004 Royal Rumble, which led to his World Title win at Wrestlemania XX.
