The sun is shining bright and the breeze is warm outside and you just can’t wait to head outdoors. The outside is inviting, and there’s nothing more like taking some time off and relaxing the day away. But then you open up your wallet-and the cash is just a bit on the low side. The economy is leaving so many of us without extra money to spend and it’s hard to participate in our favorite past time enjoyments. While you may be on a budget, it is still possible to enjoy the seasons of spring and summer without spending a lot of money. By just touring your own your local area, or even lounging in the the comfort of your back-yard, you can still enjoy fun in the sun. By using your imagination, and gathering some treasures and items from home, it is possible to not spend burn a hole in your wallet.
Begin your summer, and head out your home door to your personal backyard. With just a few items from around the house and a little creativity, you can turn your backyard into your own summer beach resort. Put out lounge chairs, towels, and even a little sand if you have it handy. Get out a cooler or a bucket of ice and fill it with all of your favorite beverages. Turn on some summer beach songs to get you in the mood, invite friends or neighbors, and lounge the afternoon away. Remember the sunscreen for the children-and for yourself as well. Keep the kids busy with some sand while you soak up the sun’s rays. Ask the husbands to cook up their gourmet meal on the grill with some affordable steaks, pork-chops, or even vegetable ka-bobs. Have the ladies fix up a salad for a side!
Another idea to save on money is to get local! Grab your family and start heading to the local parks for some fun nature walking. There’s no reason to spend a lot of cash at a summer resort, when you can visit your local state parks as well. There’s usually a lake for swimming, and plenty of nature full spunky animals and insects for free entertainment. Most admission to parks are usually free or offer low prices with kids getting in for free. Some items to bring on your outdoor trip may include a battery operated radio, comfortable chairs, towels, bug-spray, sunscreen, and some toys for the water. And don’t forget snacks for the kids, and plenty of good food to grill or cook over the camp fire. Also don’t forget to bring a camera to capture all of fun in the sun memories of your family outing at the state park.
If you can’t get away from home in the mean-time, start up a water war! Get ready to have a water blast with balloons, water guns, and perhaps even the hose for anybody who is willing! You can purchase water balloons or water guns at discount prices at retail shops such as Dollar General, Dollar Tree, or Family Dollar. Fill up a basket of water balloons, and set them up in the middle of the back yard to begin the water attack! Lay out guns around the yard for the children to use for their protection. Get photos of all of the action!
Afterward, be sure there are plenty of towels, a place to rest and dry off, and a small dinner for the hungry kids. Perhaps some grilled hot-dogs, fries, and lemonade. Set up a tent for camping out, add some s’mores and stories, and turn it into an overnight camping escapade. Have small jars for collecting lightning bugs, but be sure to let them go after everybody has caught some. Release them at once to light up the dark starry night.
So, there isn’t any necessary reason to spend cash that you may not have to have an incredible spring and summer. By using some imagination, shopping at discount stores, and adding friends, family, and delicious food, you can have fun on a limited budget. Memories shouldn’t have to cost a dime-They should otherwise be…priceless.
